This trip was for re-union with old colleague some 25-years ago, and solely from my nostalgia. City of Rabaul is yet to recover from volcano eruptions, as I felt. Staying in Kokopo, one-hour away from Rabaul, and making day trip to Rabaul is better recommended for most of tourists.

So much ww2 things to see, tunnels, underground hospitals,...

So much ww2 things to see, tunnels, underground hospitals, old guns and tanks artillery and the volcano as well. There was so much to see we couldn't finish it in 3 days you need at least 1 week minimum. You must ask the local people to cook you local food it tastes so nice cooked on a fire adds so much extra taste and aroma as well as the wood they use adds different tastes even if you had the food else where back home. I didn't get a chance to go fishing but I'll prob come back for that another time. We ate pretty much all our meals at Rabaul hotel it averages 10$ a meal even steak dinners, great value for money. There is so much to see and do we had a friend that lived close by take us around ask for Max Wilson of travel lodge, if you want a local friendly tour guide everyone knows him. He's well versed in the history of Rabaul and knows where to take you and all the secrets of Rabaul. Everyone in Rabaul waves to you when you drive by the kids and adults, such a friendly warm place to be. Wonderful experience, a place you could visit many times.
