Called the "City of Sails" due to the large number of yachts anchored in Waitemata Harbor, Auckland is the largest city of both New Zealand and Polynesia. Built on the Auckland Volcanic Field featuring about 48 extinct volcanoes, this city truly is a blast!
Auckland is a real cultural mix with strong Asian, European, Maori and Polynesian influences, celebrated in frequent festivals and sports events. Some examples of these cultures can be seen at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, one of the best in New Zealand. For more, try the upmarket dining of Viaduct Harbour.
Another must-see is the tallest free-standing tower in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sky Tower. If you’re feeling up to the challenge, you can even perform the Sky Jump, a controlled base jump from 630 feet!
Climbing the volcanic cones as well as the stunning Auckland Harbour Bridge will provide unforgettable, panoramic views of the city’s skyline. For a different perspective, why not try a cruise or sea kayaking?
Getting to the city center is an easy trip from Auckland International Airport. Find modern hotels, comfortable motels and cheap hostels on Booking.com, sure to have the perfect place to stay for your trip.

The city center is not too big, so there is no need to spend more than 2 days here. I would recommend to visit one of the islands close to Auckland like Waiheke, it was the best decision ever.
I would 100% recommend to visit the sky tower, but do not waste your money eating at the Orbit 360 restaurant, the food is not worth the money, maybe try the bar.

I loved how many different food options there were near me in Auckland, we went to multiple food courts and stunning restaurants as well as low-key bars. It was easy to get Ubers, ferries, buses, and scooters as well as walk around the city.

There was a lot to see. Very easy to get around by bus if you knew where you were going. Extremely hilly as you would expect being in a volcanic region. Boat trips very good. We ate in various places in the city and they were much of a muchness.

Only to be used for landing and departing, or as a base for day trips elsewhere. The city itself doesn’t have much to offer and seems to be dirtier and less authentic than other towns in NZ.
The art gallery was my favourite place to visit.

Last visited Auckland 15years ago and had no problems with self driving etc. Today the city seems very sterile, beset with random traffic Issues at certain times and appears largely caused by the construction of an underground railway and not expected to be completed for at least another 4 years.

It was a great location.
It was a great location. We wanted a place away from the City centre yet close enough to attractions around Auckland city. Eire from the balcony of Auckland, especially the night lights is a memorable one.
Hosts were attentive and accommodating, great people.
Auckland parking rates at hotels close to the CBD is ridiculous. This one offers free, safe parking. It’s also one of the only hotels in Auckland that doesn’t have extra charges ie security bond.
Our King size apartment was lovely and clean. We had dinner and breakfast there, both meals were great, staff was very friendly and helpful. It was just my husband and I this time but we would definitely take our family here. Highly recommend this hotel, we have stayed at a few hotels in Auckland paying a lot more for less value!
I had my own car and stayed twice for one night a week apart. I asked for a quiet room and was assigned the end room ’18’ which I thought was perfect. Clean with tv/wifi and kitchenette and large bathroom. Could park outside the door - a unique electronic patio door mechanism. Quiet neighborhood on wide, quiet collector road. 10 minutes from the airport on the way out and close to the cross-city freeway (tried to stay out of Auckland traffic as much as possible).
Warm, spotless, quiet, luxurious. Great access to Airport & out of the City hustle. Comfortable rooms /dreamy beds / melt in your mouth food. Amazing hospitable receptionist / staff, particularly inviting on arrival & so helpful. Loved Kevin Tautau the Concierge who made us feel like family. Kevin & the staff's hospitality & the exceptional hotel & service is the reason this hotel is the only choice for our family now on in Auckland.
Fancy hotel without charging the extra cost for the design.
Confortable public places with a lot of amenities useful for budget travelers.
Location is amazing. Ok, not in the exact heart of Auckland but pretty close, so don't pay the extra value to be exactly there.
Ok, my room didn't had a window but that's why I was paying a very affordable price for the basic necessities, no need more for a couple of days in the city.
Wow this is a hidden gem in Auckland CBD. Me and my 12 year old daughter stayed here when we attended concert at Eden Park. Room was very comfy and clean. Staff very friendly on arrival. Great location, was easy walk to Eden Park and also into CBD. The price was significantly lower than other hotels in CBD but quality was great. Highly recommend for those on a budget who still want safe, comfy and clean place to stay.
I also stayed for one night a week earlier. I asked for the same end room ’18’ which I thought was perfect. Clean with tv/wifi kitchenette and large bathroom. Could park outside the door - a unique electronic patio door mechanism. Quiet neighborhood on wide, quiet collector road. 10 minutes from the airport on the way out and close to the cross-city freeway (tried to stay out of Auckland traffic as much as possible).
Everything. As a rule, I am not a fan of Ibis Budget. But this hotel is centrally located with helpful and friendly reception open 24 hours, has comfy beds, decent shower in small but "efficient" bathroom, good wifi, reasonable amount of TV channels for the rate paid and a cute wee balcony. No long elevator waits and a less than five minute walk to airport bus stop. For one person, it's very reasonable.
The property was located within walking distance of the airport. There is also a shuttle with a fee. The staff is very helpful and there is A/C in the rooms. There are some nice restaurants within walking distance and a Countdown grocery store next door. There is chilled, filtered water in the lobby as well as an espresso machine. We took an Uber to Auckland’s CBD at night.
The location was good & a short drive to City Centre. The view from the balcony was excellent. The room & bathroom were small but comfortable. The hotel was fair value for Auckland. Reception & maintenance staff were very friendly & helpful. The next door restaurant was convenient & a hearty omelette breakfast. Onsite free parking was plentiful. I would book again.
I enjoyed the location of the hotel and the convenience of a short ferry ride to Auckland city. The location has some charm to the area with the vintage thrift shop next door and breakfast joints up the street for a sit down gathering with the family. In addition it is also a brisk walk or quick bus ride to several nearby beaches.
The hotel has a fun asthetic style and vibe. Staff were friendly. Rooms were a good size, clean and loved the unique interior style.Bed was super comfy and the complimentary sparkling water was a nice touch. would highly recommended this hotel if you’re looking for accommodation close to the airport.
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff are lovely and so helpful. The room was a great size with fantastic city views over Auckland CBD. The bed and pillows were so comfy and the bathroom was great. The location is 5-10 minutes walk to the sky tower and good restaurants.
The Hotel was in a great location handy to the viaduct and Auckland central. It was a little tired and could do with a refresh. The staff were helpful and friendly. If you are after a place to stay in Auckland that is comfortable and close to the city Centre, then this is a good option.
Relatively close to the airport, although not as close as other hotels and comparably cheap. Rooms were clean and modern and had everything you need. I literally just stayed for 5 hours and slept while I had to wait for my connecting flight.
This is a great affordable option for staying in Auckland City and is near K Road. Its super clean with a very comfotable bed and a nice bathroom and much cheaper than staying somewhere like Hotel Britomart or Hotel Debrett.
For a budget central city hotel in Queen Street I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the room and had all the usual amenities. Very helpful staff with sorting taxis to airport for our group at a good price.
Stayed for one night, parked in attached garage and left early in am for the airport. Pool was nice and empty when we had a swim, location was an easy walk from the rest of Auckland CBD so easy to get around.
Kudos to the lovely and helpful front desk staff. Great location: eateries, chemist, SkyDrive airport bus stop, art gallery and University of Auckland are within walking distance. Quiet.
A great budget hotel within a few minutes walk of the Auckland CBD, Queens Street and the University.
Has on-site parking, good security and friendly staff.
I would come back.
