I can recommend Pomeroy's Cafe.on the opposite side of the Square for their delicious matcha laites. Nelson's many art gallerys are enough to satisfy the most avid art lover with the delightful, meandering walk out through Queens Gardens to Nelson's Suter Art Gallery and cafe, always a highlight.

Nelson is a lovely town, with beautiful hanging baskets and old, unique architecture, close to Tahunanui beach, which is lovely. The Saturday market is great and wandering around Nelson town is fun, there are some good small specialty shops. I enjoyed the museum and the Suter Art Gallery and Queens Gardens. It is also a great base to visit both the Marlborough and the Tasman regions.

The Art and Crafts I saw were excellent.
The Art and Crafts I saw were excellent. The Suter Gallery was a highlight, and I enjoyed the Cathedral. I really enjoyed the walk up to "the centre of N.Z" and the views from there. I had some very good food and liked looking at the architecture - e.g the villas and transitional villas in The Brook. Founders Park and Miyazu Japanese Garden were great. Also, having a craft beer at "The Free House", a church that has been converted into a drinking place( and painted with fun colours) was wonderful.

Friendliness and facilities were so nice.We had a lovely balcony with table and chairs.Near the beach. The lady I Ispoke to on the phone requesting a bath also came to greet us and she remembered me from our phone call and said enjoy your bath you deserve it. She must have remembered when I spoke to her previously we were going to be tired as we had come from a month of entertaining friends and family. This got us off to a great start. Then we were so happy to see how lovely our unit was.A Wonderful stay

Friendly, relaxed and helpful locals.
Friendly, relaxed and helpful locals. Stunning scenery and brilliant sunshine. Terrific art scene, shopping precinct and cafe culture.
Of particular note - no rubbish, graffiti or damage in sight.
Felt safe too. Was a refreshing change to central Auckland (sadly).
Janet & Tim were very welcoming to Clio (dog) and myself. Clio had fun playing with Wizz (Janet & Tim's dog). They were both very friendly and conversational about the local area and community. The breakfast was delicious - delicious fruit and a cooked meal to follow. We happily recommend Baywick Inn and would stay there again when in Nelson.
Everything about this hotel is excellent. The owner of this property is at the reception and is a super friendly and helpful lad. We had reserved 1 one-bedroom apartment and 2 studio units and the owner was kind enough to upgrade all of our rooms to one-bedroom units free of charge. Highly recommended place of stay in Nelson!
This motel is a hidden gem. Lovely big room with a fully equipped kitchen. Coffee pod machine, lovely toiletries in the bathroom & a full size TV with access to Netflix. The owner (receptionist) was incredibly welcoming & friendly. I highly recommend this hotel to visitors to Nelson.
Location is great, rooms offer what you need for a stay of 3 days. This is our go-to when requiring accommo in Nelson due to the location and we have usually finished or on our way hiking in the Marlborough Sounds or Nelson Lakes, Abel Tasman etc and require washing machine etc
A warm welcome and friendly staff at the hostel, which is cheap for Nelson. The kitchen is good and there's some nice outdoor space. Our room was in a second building, which was well-sized and with a shared bathroom/shower, which worked well.
Loved a separate room for family member. Car was parked immediately outside unit. Good kitchen facilities. On the right side of Nelson to start our journey to Golden Bay. Easy access to motorway. Check in & out super quick.
the view from the lounge is breathtaking. it is hard to imagine a better view anywhere in Nelson. the facilities were excellent with a full oven and large fridge. you don't get those often in motels.
It looked attractive from the outside but the inside was amazing. Stylish and elegant and extremely comfortable the room was worthy of a 5 star hotel. The facilities were great, clean and modern.
Mark and John were exceptionally hosts providing a real home away from home. They provided advice and services that made our stay very memorable and in a perfect location for visiting Nelson.
Beautifull garden. You can make your own fresh tea with the fresh mint from the garden. The owner is really nice and the loca.tion is close to Nelson center and "center of New Zealand hill".
Love everything about staying At The Hotel Nelson. It’s always clean, the food from the restaurant is wonderful, staff are friendly & helpful. Perfect place for our stay in Nelson
Hi there, the house was very comfortable, the beds were comfortable, the location was good to anywhere around the Nelson area and the road was quiet and the house quite secluded.
