We visited Arnhem because of it's close proximity to the Hoge Veluwe National Park. Very easy return journey there by bus and I would recommend staying in Arnhem rather than Otterlo. Also to visit the war museum and cemetery. Very good shopping facilities as well. Even though the city was badly damaged during the war, and it lacks the charm of older quaint Dutch towns, it is a very interesting destination.

I am biased because I lived in Arnhem some time ago.
I am biased because I lived in Arnhem some time ago.
I just like the city, relaxed, calm but still full of life.
Lots of things to see, the Eusebius church is one of a kind and also several museums are worth to visit.
And do not forget the Dutch national park "De hoge Veluwe", the zoo "Burgers dierenpark", the river Rine, etc. etc.
Eating is not my priority but there are plenty of good restaurants around.... But yes, they all have a Dutch kind of character even if we call them Greek, Indonesian, Turkish, etc.

A very nice, green city.
A very nice, green city. Public transport is excellent, the connecting routes are very reliable, and on time. The park is amazing, with lots of geese and beautiful flowers, very green, and serene. It seemed very safe to walk in the streets, even in the evening. Lots of cafes, and the shopping area is huge, with options for all tastes and purses. Be careful at the bikes in the street, there are A LOT of people traveling the city by bike.
I would love to go back and explore more. 3 days isn't enough time to appreciate the place.

Good selection of shops, bars and restaurants.
Good selection of shops, bars and restaurants.
We had a recommendation from Dutch friends who live local to try Lestari an Indonesian restaurant, this was the best meal of our weeklong trip in Holland. This area contains many European and Asian restaurants.
The area we were in had a good feel and we all thought we should have spent more time there. We were passing through and the Bridge museum was our reason to be in the area. The museum was outstanding and to anyone interested in WW2 should not be missed.
First off, the Hostess, Lenie, and her husband. Next, the included free on street parking. The location within walking distance to the sights of Arnhem. The huge room with a balcony, and the very comfortable bed. Breakfast was wonderful, with most of the dishes homemade! Not only that, each morning, Lenie provided bags for guests to take “extras” of the breakfast items with them for a lunch later in the day
Being bang in the centre of Arnhem area for the main high streets was perfect. easy food shops and meal places. Linda the host was lovely and the house was perfect for me. Was very warm and very clean. "a home from home" for sure. I will alway check here first before other hotels for Nov events.
Breakfast was good, although I was at the Olympic Training Center and due to my changing schedule, the fact that their system made me sign up for mandatory attendance at breakfast cost my money due to being scheduled at work and not able to attend breakfast at the hotel.
We have stayed at this hotel before a few years ago and we were very impressed with the refurbishment. This is an excellent location directly opposite to the train station and also opposite a Spar. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff were very helpful.
The location was great, close to many restaurants and shops. There was also a safe place to store our bikes which we were traveling with at the time. The hotel was also able to provide us with an umbrella for a few hours as it was raining and we didn't have one.
The hotel is beautiful and the decor really nice. Our bedroom was clean, fresh and plenty of towels provided. The hotel roof top bar was excellent and the entire staff were great! Overall experience was really fantastic.
clean , tidy and spacious , great central location , on site parking with reasonable charges. staff friendly and welcoming and as we have discovered everyone we met in The Netherlands spoke excellent English!
Nice comfortable hotel with large, quiet room overlooking the river and flood plain. Delicious breakfast. Free parking. Handy for the Museum Arnhem and a 15-20 minute walk into the city centre.
Inrequested an early check in, and the hotel made it possible. The hotel is above a rstaurant, but you dont need to go through the restaurant itself, as there is a back entrance with a code.
Friendly and helpful staff.
The location was outstanding. We were close to the symphony concert hall and the Arnhem Bridge, Jonny Frost Bridge Airborne Museum.
