But I have walked around and prayed in Siri Maha Bodhi Tree area which is a massive and fascinating place! 1) No hot water in the shower.
1) No hot water in the shower. 2) A whirring / drilling noise that kept me up all night, perhaps coming from one of the hotel pumps / generators from above. When I enquired about this at reception I was told that “the hotel was full” and my questions as to what it could be were rebuffed with a “goodnight”. 3) There were no batteries in the remote for the tv. 4) Which didn’t make much difference as the tv didn’t work anyway when I swapped out the batteries for the air con. 5) The air con worked but didn’t turn down meaning that I had to constantly turn it on and off. 6) The swimming pool had safety issues in that the side of the pool had a suction hole which sucked people in if they got close. Thankfully it was only me that discovered it and not the kids. 7) our drivers quarters were full of cockroaches and he was asked to give up his fan for a “guest” half way through the night.Eggleton - 10Scored 10

It’s a cultural centre but also a real living city, the hosts introduced us to people and we ate at a nice restaurant for ‘locals’. Joining our guide for a temple evening was a surprise and wonderful. The old railway buildings are interesting and watching a monitor lizard strolling down the street was very cool. And of course the ancient city - unmissable. Honestly I’d rather stay here than rush off to the beach.

It is just in front of the lake with an amazing view of the ancient city. There is plenty of green space to walk and enjoy, and the rooms are all positioned with an amazing view. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable for our guests and friends. Everyone was happy. In addition, the hotel accommodated a few special needs for our group, which was extremely hospitable. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this place for your stay in Anuradhapura.

The staff consists of friendly local people who are committed to make you comfortable. The food is fine. The veg chop suey was delicious. They have breakfast and dinner buffets with some local cuisine and bread. The dining area has nice views. If you need a taxi (because Uber is not much available in this city) the hotel can provide you some contacts, which is very helpful.

There is a small convenience shop next door and is ten mins walk down a main road from a couple of local restaurants.
