FAQs about hotels in Phnom Penh

Cambodia's Colorful Capital

Cambodia has successfully dusted itself off from the ravages of war with its colourful capital of Phnom Penh rising from the ashes and sparkling once more. This fascinating city, on the banks of the Mekong River, features exotic markets, cultural jewels and is home to some of the friendliest people on earth.

A visit to the National Museum captures a slice of Cambodia’s ancient Khmer history and art. A different and more recent history suffocates and overwhelms visitors to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, the former prison of the Khmer Rouge, and The Killing Fields are a short drive from the capital.

The Royal Palace is a striking centrepiece in the centre of Phnom Penh, and is home to the Emerald Buddha and Silver Pagoda. Not far away is the Cambodian Independence Monument that celebrates Cambodia’s sovereignty.

You can satisfy your hunger pains with delicious French-Indochina-inspired meals at various street stalls or classy restaurants. The riverside area has the Art Deco Central Market for a great bargain and there are a variety of bars, especially near Sisowath Quay.

Take time to walk around the French colonial streets with its mix of slow-moving monks and speedy motorbikes. Booking.com has many hotels located in Daun Penh and Chamkar Mon districts, amongst others.

Phnom Penh is a great city, lovely temples, royal palace and national museum are all a must see,Lots of great eateries around either more formal restaurants or street food. The city is very easy to get around by tuk-tuk, just download one of the apps like grab to book. A must see is S-21 prison and the killing fields genocide memorial on the outskirts, very sombre and shocking places to visit, but everyone should know want went on under Pol Pot.

Phnom Penh has its own charm. I like the parks and street foods. Everything in Phnom Penh is beautiful. Im encouraged to look for' a month stay in the countryside for there are foods and vegetables around preferably beside Mekong River where fishes and greens are abundant. If you are visiting Cambodia you can definitely skip Phnom Penh. As with many international flights we did not have great connections to get to Koh Rong Samleom or Siem Reap. Had a long layover here. Not much to see unless you are interested in visiting the Genocide Museum.

The Mekong river was a cool spot. The AEON malls were good with plenty of choices to have a meal. Very easy and cheap to get around in the local Tuktuks. Avoid walking on the streets because there is no space on the footpaths.

Phnom Penh has a rich cultural city, vibrant nightlife, we enjoyed every minute of our time there, from the somber reminders of the past to the tranquility of a sunset cruise on the Mekong. The city tour by Tuk Tuk we did at night, there was less traffic , quieter streets, more lights and it felt you could see more , totally worth the money and time.

Everything on offer depending on your budget. The country runs on USD so it can be expensive for travellers from Australia and NZ From great restaurants to street hawker food to high end night clubs and casual bars it's all on offer. Temples , killing fields & S21 for some history Khmer boxing at Banyon studio stadium is a must . River Cruise at sunset followed by a visit to Naga world casino for when you feel like a great night. Russian market for shopping tourists souvenirs Cambodia is not the place for shopping with shopping malls overpriced with a lot of empty stores due to a lack of trade. The pool area and the food were fabulous. The welcome staff and refreshments were great. The decor was very luxurious and also very Angkor. I loved it. My room was very spacious and had many amenities including fresh fruits. The hotel location was probably the best location for a hotel in Phnom Penh. I use to live in Phnom Penh so I was within walking distance to all my favorite restaurants as well as the Royal Palace, National Art Museum and Riverside. Sadly the Royal Palace was closed due to Covid restrictions.

The place is beautiful. You really wouldn’t know you are in the middle of Phnom Penh. It’s a really lovely place I couldn’t rate the aesthetics any higher for a hotel in the middle of the city. The staff are friendly and professional I also had a complaint to the reception regarding my room rate which the manager fixed Fairly and immediately. Even if you live in Pp already and you just fancy a break for a short while it’s extremely peaceful and tranquil. Highly recommended. Thankyou for having us.

This was great value for money. It was the most "luxurious" place I stayed in 3 weeks in Cambodia. The bed was super comfortable. It was the only "cable TV" that actually worked, showing an English speaking channel or 2! The bathroom was very clean (as was the whole room) and the best bathroom of all the places I stayed. It was in a good location, surrounded by many great restaurants and I walked to riverside from here in 30 minutes. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

AC in living room and bedroom. Large smart TV. Staff is best part of this place! They helped us with the many things we required like getting documents and finding basics like detergent. This is the place to stay in Phnom Penh, especially if you're doing a long stay.

Our room was big and clean, on the 10th floor, had a great-working air conditioning and a beautiful bathroom. We stayed in the HM Grand-suite due to a good off-season offer, but it would not be called a suite in a western hotel, more like a superior/deluxe room. The rooftop bar had good cocktails and a great view over the city. Nice with swimming pool (incl bar) and gym. Good location in walking distance from most of the city centre.
