I could happily stay longer in the superb hotel, but mainly there is one sight to see in Mystras - the site of the old Byzantine city.
We spent longer there than anticipated; and if we had more time and energy we could have spent the entire day.
Drive to the top; see the citadel and the churches at the top. Drive to the bottom to see the rest of the site.
There is good information at the site, but prepare by reading up ahead and ideally have a good guidebook to make clear what to see at the site.

The Mystras Archeological Site is an extraordinary collection of Byzantine churches and ruins, built into and atop a steep mountain. Allow at least two hours and be prepared for lots of walking on slippery, uneven, steep surfaces. Worth it!
Tip: easy to park in Mystras main square, with multiple tavernas to choose from for lunch or dinner.

It's a small town or you can even call it a village.
It's a small town or you can even call it a village. Coffee drinks and food can be found in the center square of that village. Ideal location to visit the famous Castle city of Mystras and after that, regroup and continue your journey. If i may suggest, the route from there to Kalamata through Taygetos mountain (EO82) is amazing...

I am very sorry for the CONFUSION in my review particualrly of this place. UNFORTUNATELY we could only spend ONE night at this magical and extraordinary PYRGOS OF MYSTRA. It was one of the most memorable places I have stayed in. Our host MARIA excels in her efficiency and kindness. The whole place has an aura of serenity and peace. It is no doubt due to the staff but also the surroundings: a profusion of orange and lemon trees, paerfumed roses and a beautifully landscaped garden. The room is not only beautiful but extremely well equipped and it was the best shower during my trip to Greece! We really received the royal treatment and in the magnificent dining room we were served a most delicious breakfast. I was so very sorry to leave the place the next morning and I woud recommend, without any hesitation, this particular hotel and make sure that you can spend MORE than only one night there. Our fondest appreciation to Maria.

Lovely quaint village within walking distance of the ancient archaeological sites, which are stunning.
It’s all very hilly to take a taxi to the top gate of the site if you’re feeling lazy - then it’s just up to the castle and then it’s all downhill back through the site and down into town

An amazing ruined city - great for anyone interested in history. We started at the top, walking up to the fortress then down through the city . We did not move our car as some tourist books recommend. The restaurant is outside the site but tickets are valid all day so no problem returning to walk back up - recommend this as you see things from a different perspective going in the opposite direction. There are sufficient information boards. Be aware there is only one toilet on site. Good shoes are a must - these are ruins! Highly recommend.
Beautiful hotel, very close to the medieval town of Mystras with spectacular views across to Sparta one way and Taygetus mountain the other.
The hotel is charming with a mountain lodge feel, the hostess was very welcoming, the room we had was beautifully furnished with a kitchenette and balcony. The location is very quiet. We were brought a lovely ample breakfast in our room at a time of our choosing. There is a small pool for warmer weather. This hotel is excellent value and I can't recommend it enough.
We stayed here for one night to be nearby the Mystras archeological site. This hotel has parking and is attached to a restaurant in case you get hungry. The windows and porch give you a gorgeous view of the mountains. You will feel like you are in a medieval byzantine city but with modern amenities. In walking distance of several local restaurants and pretty town. The family that owns this hotel are very friendly. The view from the patio allows you to enjoy a nice breakfast with outdoor seating.
A lovely traditional house, high in the mountains, with beautiful hikes nearby. The real gems are the kind couple who run it, for whom I’d give 15/10. Impossible to do them justice in a few lines, but if you’ve been there, you know! Outstanding food, outstanding welcome, outstanding service, outstanding attention to detail, over and above anything a 5* hotel could ever offer because it comes from the heart. WHAT an experience! We miss them already …
fantastic views from 80% of the way up Mount Taygeti looking over valley, Sparta and straight across to Mystra on the next mountain. it was beautiful, peaceful, cute, clean and comfortable. there are no other tourists or cars because you are the highest house on the mountain after 15 minutes up a steep, windy, cliff side road. we stayed for 2 nights to see Mystras but 3 would be the minimum if you want to also enjoy the hikes.
Great location for visiting Mystras, offers fantastic views of Mystras castle in the hill and all over the wide valley up to Sparta. The accommodation is traditional but offers every convenience and is decorated to the highest standard and the owner is very friendly and hospitable.
The house was definitely one of the most authentic, and beautiful ones of our trip in Greece.
Staff are excellent and very helpful. Great restaurant recommendation! Lots of choice at breakfast and very tasty. Rooms are very spacious with very good air conditioning. Hotel grounds are beautiful too. Awesome base to explore Mystras.
The way the hotel was set out with the garden rooms off of a courtyard made it feel very private and relaxed.
Breakfast was excellent and there was so much choice. If you wanted anything else the hostess was very happy to help.
We had a fantastic room. They kindly upgraded us but I am convinced all rooms would be great. The staff could not have been more helpful. Excellent location for driving to see Mystras and Sparta
Beautiful surroundings, quiet, a place to really relax, with great stuff. The hotel was very well kept up both inside and outside with some really gorgeous vintage style furnishings.
Really nice stone villa, great and quite location, very close to Mystras archeological site and other villages with beautiful hiking trails around the mountains! Highly recommend it!
This property was very close to town and a short drive away from the ruins of Mystras. My kids loved the resident cats. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The AC was crucial🥵.
We liked Mystras as a village and the hotel was at the heart of it. Breakfast was very good and a great choice in the evening for a meal in the restaurant. Parking was on site.
Charming hotel in a small village with a fabulous restaurant on site. Amazing hiking and historical sites nearby. We felt very lucky to have found this little charm.
