Loved the hot air balloon ride (only take the sunrise trip), the Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings (the Valley of the Queens is similar, less grand, and can be skipped if you have less time). I also took a day trip to Dendera and Abydos to see the temples. Was great to see some rural Egypt along the way and beautiful desert scenery. The Hathos Temple in Dendera was perhaps the best of temples I saw in Egypt and very much worth it!

Luxor is beautiful and crossing the Nile with the local...
Luxor is beautiful and crossing the Nile with the local ferry is very romantic. We mostly used the horse-carriage for transport on the East bank, which was cheap (30-50 EGP) and pleasant.
The Valley of Kings was indeed interesting to visit, however is a bit overpriced and you can only enter 3 tombs with the general ticket.
Compared to our other experiences in Egypt (Cairo, Dahab) Luxor was the most intrusive in terms of people wanting to sell their services for tourists or beggers. It can be tiring after a while, when every step on your way new and new people come to you with some question or offer.
The Karnak temple was grandiose, however it might not be worth to buy a ticket for the Luxor temple as well, which you can just watch from outside of the fence.
Charismatic staff, great food with vegan and vegetarian options for all meals, friendly cats in the garden, beautiful architecture, good music, cozy garden atmosphere for breakfast or a nice dinner, chill vibes.
This was our favourite place to stay at during our 2-weeks trip to Egypt. The staff was extremely friendly and made us feel welcome from the first to the last moment. The hotel has a beautiful architecture and garden, with spacious and very clean rooms. Definitely recommend staying at Embrace Hotel if you are going to Luxor.
One of the things that I liked the most about the Cleopatra Hotel was the kindness and constant concern for our comfort and well-being. Nasser and Mahmoud are the best hosts we have met in Egypt. They made us feel like family. Very special, transparent and trustworthy people. The hotel facilities are very comfortable and it is located a few minutes walk to the local Nile ferry station. Good breakfast. The hotel offers tour and transportation options in Luxor at a good price. Highly recommended and we would stay at Cleopatra Hotel again.
The hotel is perfect in every aspect.
Location - central, accessible by car and taxi boat with great views.
Facilities - clean, safe and beautiful grounds. Hotel is well planed and thought out.
Room- most comfortable beds, room and bathroom are a good size, cleaned and organized daily, strong air conditioning.
Spa - great massage with view to the Nile.
Spa infinity pool is epic, especialy at sunset.
Staff- service is very friendly and helpful
Prices - fair with great value
Food- good breakfast, above Egyptian 5 star hotel standards.
This hotel is a perfect little safe haven amongst the lovely chaos of Egypt! We were greeted Jorda and his on site team and catered to our every need. Mr Mostafa the owner was also a very nice man and would help us if we asked but was truly an unforgettable experience due to Jorda. The hotel backs onto a small lake that you are able to take a boat out to watch the sunset, the food is absolutely delicious. Jorda spoke with us taught us about Luxor and traditions and really was a pleasure to be acquainted with. Will be staying again!
The food was really incredible. They offered a typical Egyptian fare. The ingredients were all fresh and served promptly. A couple of times we needed a last-minute meal and they always happily accommodated us. Food was so good, we actually didn't eat anywhere else in Luxor. LOVED the roof top patio too. They also helped us arrange a couple tours and taxi rides which were all excellent. The location is ideal--right next to the market and a short walk from the temples. The Venus was so much nicer than staying at a big box hotel.
By far our favourite hotel in egypt so far! The service the entire Time was outstanding, thanks very much to Reem and Muhammad for all the help!
The location is great, easy access to downtown luxor. The room was as shown on booking.com, very comfortable and the AC worked well fighting off the 44 degree heat outside.
The rooftop terrace is an amazing place to watch the sunset and the food is outstanding! Perfect place to spend the afternoon. Thanks to Abuzizo for the excellent service.
We will be back! 10/10
Everything! This hotel is by far the best in one month traveling in Egypt. Is where you will most feel like to be in a hotel but with the coziness of a guest house.
The service are amazing. Very attentive. Food is great. Breakfast is amazing!
The owner has lived many years in America working to be able to return home and build his dream hotel.
which also helped I guess in bring more that “western” service like, vibes. Can’t recommend enough.
The views to Luxor Temple and Winter Palace at sundown were spectacular. The village atmosphere and friendliness and dedication of the staff there is exceptional. This was my first time in Egypt, and as a solo female, the whole atmosphere at Villa Sunrise was so welcoming and safe it made the whole experience so special. The rooms are apartments so have laundry and cooking facilities too if you want but the meals in the restaurant are great!!!
Lovely family run hotel on West Bank overlooking Nile, good room with balcony and Nile view, excellent restaurant on roof terrace with great value Egyptian style food, staff exceptionally friendly and went the extra mile to ensure we had everything we needed for a fantastic stay, excursions arranged through hotel excellent value and standard, nothing was too much trouble I would recommend this hotel for a stay in Luxor anytime
This stay was amazing and saved my trip. the staff are wonderful people, the food is authentic home cooked Egyptian style food. the LOCATION IS PERFECT. I extended my stay for 2 extra nights because it was so nice being right next to Habu temple and the tombs of the nobles. Was also a joy to get away from the hassling on the other side of the Nile. It’s less of a hotel and more of a quaint Egyptian style bed and breakfast.
We stayed in various types of accommodation in our 5 week visit to Egypt. From 5 star resorts to basic 3 star hotels. By far we enjoyed our time spent here the most. Ali, our host and contact, was amazing. His service and attitude made the visit memorable and we remain good friends.
I felt Ali and Temple House deserved a review from both Shayne and myself. It's not a double review but deserving of the praise.
The view of the Nile is amazing. The restaurant and a pool overlook it, which was very nice. We did not take advantage of the facilities much as we were mainly sightseeing in Luxor. The breakfast was very good - really enjoyed the variety, quality and local flavours. Another note was that Egyptian coffee was exceptional - best coffee I’ve ever had in a hotel breakfast. Also, wifi was very good.
We loved the staff at the Embrace! They are honestly the best thing about the hotel! They made staying at the hotel so welcoming. Mohammed makes the best strawberry shake and Egyptian tea.
The facilities (rooms and garden) are beautiful! and buffet breakfast is really enjoyable.
It was easy to book hot air balloon trip through the hotel at a good value and was a great trip!
kind owner and staff will offer, arrange, help your travel.one day tour going to famous places in luxor is so nice,I recommend you strong.the guide is rich knowledge of their history.
there is chill place to have contact with travelers from all over the world.that's why you can share information.
you can also enjoy egyptian yammy breakfast.
Everything: friendly, efficient and well educated staff; beautiful hotel with a restaurant terrace and rooftop where you can enjoy the wonderful view of Luxor Temple (you can eat your meals there, perfect location near main attractions; clean and beautiful room, certainly above average egyptian standard). I would come back here
Great location, best breakfasts, best value-for-money restaurant, wonderful views! It is also walking distance to the train station, many super markets and McDonalds not to mention the Luxor temple as well. Room service was courteous and prompt. I think this was the best room service experience in Egypt.
I planned a trip to Egypt for a group of 11 admit I was wary on our drive to the hotel through dirt streets and no sign of civilization. Upon arrival, we were relieved to find this hospitable oasis. The breakfast and dinner were fabulous. we loved the chicken with peanut sauce.
Very nice room with view on the Nile. Modern, comfortable and with very nice and clean bathroom (the best I had in my 10 days in Egypt!).
The swimming pool and swing on the Nile are great!
Very quiet location, far from the noisy central streets of Luxor.
Really nice hotel. Staff is super friendly and location is perfect: nice view on the Nile and close to city center. Rooms are very comfortable and breakfast was the best we had in Egypt. We would definitely come back.
Perfect place, very nice location Egyptian village with great vibes. Owner really supportive and lovely person. If we come back luxor no hesitation we go there ❤️
