Nicosia's old town is fascinating and safe to walk around day and night.
Nicosia also has an excellent cheap bus service.
Locals are friendly and helpful if you need directions. Many Cypriots speak English.
And of course the Greek Cypriot food is delicious and reasonably priced.

Besides, almost always great weather, very nice people, and delicious food, 1 - to 2 days in Nicosia is enough to walk around and check out the sightseeing. I recommend passing through the border to the Turkish side and shopping a bit in the Turkish Bazar (the ladies will like POSH Handbags & Shoes shop) and eating at the local restaurants. Have a Turkish coffee.

Nicosia is a very unique and historic City.
Nicosia is a very unique and historic City. Famously it is still a divided city and it is possible to visit Northern Nicosia which is under Turkish Occupation since the 1970s.
There are many very interesting and fairly unique sites to visit on both sides of the border.
Nicosia is both a very modern city and has also a very old and picturesque sector. The fact that it has a patrolled border, the Green Line, running through it makes it a very memorable experience.
There are many restaurants and tavernas of variable quality in the town. Sadly there are way too many fast food outlets, but there are also some traditional tavernas serving fresh local delicacies.
However my main criticism would be, as a vegan, I found it very difficult to find places that catered for me.

The southern city center is very small--you can easily walk from end to end multiple times in a day of sightseeing--but it is a pleasant mix of developed tourist streets, colorful quaint residential streets, abandoned buildings and weird more or less closed shops with display windows full of junk. The center is worth a day. A second day is best spent on the Turkish side or in nature at the city outskirts.

I loved and always visit Nicosia both myself and my wife visited 2 or 3 times per year I love the weather and the kind people , lots of attraction and lots of restaurants with fine food , fantastic place especially in December time , Nicola is easy to move around
I found this place because I was looking for somewhere close to Nicosia hospital where my daughter was a patient. It was less than a 5 minute drive to the hospital and a home from home experience. It is neither glamorous nor luxurious however, it is clean, very well equipped, functional and comfortable. The host cannot do enough for you and it is excellent value for money. Ideal for anyone needing to be close to the hospital for work or personal reasons.
Great first floor studio flat, in city centre and close to old town, ledra Street, and municipal theatre.
Nicely decorated and furnished.
Nice powerful walk in shower in bathroom.
Very comfortable double bed.
WhatsApp chat used with agents for all queries/problems was helpful, with useful info and video guides sent to me prior to stay.
Good working air con with cool or fan function was welcomed.
The location was great for my main purpose with the stay, as it was close to the University of Nicosia. Staff was also mostly available when I had issues. The air conditioning was great. Bed was done and towels changed every day. Got extra towels when I asked. Ants were at one incident taken care of.
I had a wonderful stay at this studio close to Nicosia. The host was incredibly welcoming and made me feel right at home. The location is perfect for guests of the Cyprus Institute, with easy access to the airport shuttle, shops, and public transportation to the city centre.
We can highly recommend Lordos Hotel Apartments. The apartment was super comfortable with everything we needed. Also we got a free upgrade to a two bedroom apartment. Parking was easy to find and the staff was amazing. To the city centre it's an easy 15-20 minute walk.
We were in Nicosia for consulate stuff and the hotel is located really close to several of them. The staff were really kind and helped us a lot with any questions and needs we had. It was a great deal for us and we would come back. Free parking was also great.
Very comfy and cozy hotel. Room is equipped with everything you might need. Staff is very helpful and cheerful especially Tamer in front desk his services were exceptional. Would love to stay again when coming to Nicosia
Great small boutique hotel on the excellent location, just 15 minutes walk from the old town. Very clean, with spacious rooms and very comfort bed. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. Great value for money
Nice people, lovely old Hotel and very good breakfast, car parking for free, in the old town, near Paphos gate and near to Museum and Theatre and to the Ledra street. Basic room, not a three-star-standard.
Friendly staff, quiet location, clean room and building. An excellent no grills hotel. Basic, simple and welcoming. Air-con was efficient without being uncomfortable, which in Cyprus' summer is essential.
The AC unit worked really well to heat and cool the room to our needs. This not always something that I have found in Cyprus, even in accommodations that were considerably more expensive.
We like the convenience that this property provide for us like water, coffee, snacks. And we’re appreciated that the owner helps us to pick up at another hotel when we couldn’t find taxi.
I liked the stable WiFi provided in the rooms and the location of the hotel. It was very close to the city centre and the market so it was easy for us to navigate to the city on foot.
Quiet hotel, warm showers, lively common terrace accesible from each room, charging point and individual light for each bed. Smooth check-in and Check-out. Free Cyprus coffee.
Comfy bed with normal blanket cover instead of a one-sided cover typical for hotels
Awesome terrace (sunlight in the morning and shade the rest of the day)
