Montreal is the second largest city in Canada and the entry point to Quebec province via Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport. Montreal truly has it all. Divided into East and West by Boulevard Saint-Laurent, there are several districts to the city, each offering a distinct atmosphere.
Downtown is best explored on foot, as you weave your way through skyscrapers and visit museums such as the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. In the winter you can steer clear of icy paths by heading underground to the passages of the Underground City, full of shops, movie theaters and food courts.
From there, the metro will conveniently take you outwards in any direction you might want to go, from the historic Old Montreal to the hip café and restaurant culture of the Quartier Latin-Le Village.
In summer, stay closer to the historic quarter and head outdoors in Parc Jean-Drapeau on the St. Lawrence River islands of Île Sainte-Helen and Île Notre-Dame. If the weather isn’t good enough for rowing, water-skiing and beaches then head to Montreal Casino.
Whether you’re visiting for festivals or fashion, gastronomy or culture, with over 190 hotels and B&Bs with Booking.com you’ll find your perfect home away from home.
We loved our first visit to Montreal. We were a little intimidated by it being primarily French speaking but had no problems getting around or communicating. We did a food tour, which was the highlight of our stay. We wished we could have stayed longer because we wanted to explore Mount Royal and do another tour.
We had planned to ice skate at the Old Pier under the giant wheel, but it closed one day early due to weather, so we missed it.
We also did a trip to Quebec City which was magical- highly recommended.
There were so many cute restaurants to choose from or you can Door Dash almost anything if you don’t want to go out.
The city was very walkable and we felt safe even at night. We Ubered anywhere that was too far to walk and were picked up within 1-3 minutes every time.
We plan to come back and do all the things we couldn’t due to time or season.

Montreal is like an old european country.Roads are very narrow and there are steep areas. It can be confusing esp if you dont speak french. Some areas are rundown and there are a lot of graffities which cheapens the area. Too many constructions going on. Amazed that the people in the service iindustry could speak and understand english and french. Highly recommened places: Notre Dame basilica and its Aura experience; St. Joseph oratory (very beautiful), Ferris wheel on the old port; Biodome (great for kids)

Worth visiting as the city is unique in its own right. Hopefully when you visit, the weather is amenable, as that can make quite the difference between wanting to hibernate indoors or wanting to explore all the city has to offer.

Walking around old town and the harbor area at night was very romantic and charming. We unfortunately were in town only a short time which includes a Monday when a lot of the tours and attractions are closed in the off season. We were still able to see the Notre Dame Cathedral, explore the underground city including a piece of the Berlin Wall right near the hotel as well as ride the Ferris wheel, ice skate and wander around Chinatown as they celebrated the New Year. We plan to go back. There is so much more to see!

It’s a culturally interesting city with a good mix of old and new. Unfortunately we found it to be a dirty city, lots of litter on the streets. Easy to get around with the Metro and underground city. Thought the restaurants were good but too pricey for us. Lots of food selection.
The hotel, while old fashioned, looked very nice and had a sort of a 1960s charm. The room was quite spacious and clean, and it had a little kitchenette, which was very useful.
The staff was very friendly and very quick to respond and solve a small complaint that we had. We also had a top floor room which gave us a very nice view of Montreal. Furthermore, the location was very good, right in the downtown area close to basically everything we needed (bars, restaurants, attractions, Mont Royal, etc.
This was our second time there. This time we went with our 9 and 17 year daughters. The hotel is multidimensional, meaning my wife and I could separate from the kids in the evening and enjoy a nightcap in the lounge. Or, the kids could explore the pool and facilities. This hotel is conveniently located next to a RESO( Underground city), St Catherine, and the rest of downtown and Old Montreal. Parking is also available on the premises.
It's a decent hotel in a decent location. It's located outside of downtown Montreal/Old Port but it is a 5 minute walk to Namur Station which will connect you downtown quickly.
The hotel is a little dated but overall decently maintained. The room was spacious, clean and cosy. The pool was fine too.
I think it is underrated because it is dated. The price is fair for what you get, in comparison to what you see in the city.
Great location, very nice and competent staff, newly built hotel so spacey room with washrooms and social corner, plus large common areas to work / cook / eat / relax. Each bunk bed as 2 electric plugs, a light, under the bed locker, storage around the bed, and curtains to sleep nicely. Plus the WiFi is really good! Close to a lot of things in Downtown Montreal. So far the best Hostel in that city, especially at that price!
Great location. Nice rooms, the bathrooms are a bit outdated.
Reception team was friendly efficient and happy to help.
Valet service was excellent.
Housekeeping on Sunday could have done better. However, on the other days was very good.
If you are looking for a hotel downtown Montreal, this is a great option much better value for money than the one right across the street.
The hotel was beautiful! Very nice rooms and lobby. Our room was on the smaller side; however, it was the perfect size for my friend and I. Location was pretty good! From the hotel to downtown Montreal it was a 10ish minute walk and 5 minute walk to Via Rail. Would definitely stay here again!
Great location. Convenient to downtown Montreal. High end finishes in room - expected in a luxury hotel. Friendly staff. Quiet floor. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Concierge staff was also very helpful when handling special requests (e.g. gift basket delivery to room).
I stay here at least once a month. Hotel Bonaventure has wonderful, helpful, caring staff. It also has awesome amenities, such as the 10th floor outdoor garden, swimming pool, and restaurant/bar. It is a perfect location in downtown Montreal by the train station.
The downtown location was convenient to Mount Royal and Old Town. The hotel amenities were very nice, the room was lovely, and the bed was very comfortable. The room included an Nespresso machine with pods & creams, which was very nice for our early departure.
It was an excellent experience... I have stayed at few chain hotels in Canada. This hotel by far is the best experience I had at a boutique hotel..
Everything was well thought out and exceptional attention to detail.. I will definitely recommend this hotel..
The hotel is beautiful and the staff go above and beyond to make your stay fantastic! Great location, walkable to downtown and old Montreal. The hotel is also wheelchair accessible and has accommodating rooms. Would highly recommend!
Location of the hotel, in the middle of everything, so it is easy to walk to downtown and not far from old city. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was good, if you have a room higher up, you do not hear any noise from street.
We liked how close the hotel was to downtown and old Montreal. We walked everywhere. The view from our room on the 9th floor was awesome. We didn’t use it but there’s almost a full kitchenette, microwave, fridge and sink in room.
The hotel's location is fantastic, situated in the heart of downtown Montreal with easy access to popular attractions, restaurants and vibrant neighborhoods. The amenities provided ensured a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
An excellent old hotel in downtown Montreal. Very reasonably priced, large rooms, that can fit the whole family. Nice breakfast bar.
This is an older hotel with older furnishings, but it is well run.
Great location within walking distance to Chinatown and downtown Montreal. Apartment-style hotel and the space is larger than expected. Well-equipped with full kitchen. Friendly staff. Walking distance.
Spacious and modern room, parking directly on site was convenient. This hotel was perfectly located to enjoy downtown Montreal and catch a Canadiens game !
Hotel is conveniently located right in the heart of downtown Montreal. Everything was within walking distance. On the 34 th floor the views were amazing!!
