Very bright and clean. The areas were very well kept. Travel was easy and the city very pleasant to drive around in. The city has changed very much after the Fire in 2016. Sure was a very clean and well groomed.

Home to Oil Sands Discovery Centre explaining the history of the sands and their development. Heritage Village contains a number of vintage buildings including the home of WW I flying ace Wilfred "Wop" May. McDonald Island Park is home to a leisure centre and an Aboriginal Interpretive Trail featuring art installations by a number of Indigenous and Metis artists, and is also a good nature walk next to the Athabasca River. Mitchell's Cafe is a local institution, and recommended for take-out sandwiches and light meals. "Fort Mac" is also a good base for exploring such nearby attractions as the Syncrude "Giants of Mining" exhibit and Gregoire Lake Provincial Park.

Nothing like what you would expect.
Nothing like what you would expect. Although seemingly plagued with disasters like massive forest fires and extensive flooding, the community is very vibrant. People I met about the town were very diverse, and obviously from different backgrounds. A broad spectrum of representation for such a northern town. People were quite polite and everyone seemed busy.

I have worked in this town for years and do not like it here, especially this downtown area where a person is accosted for cigarettes or money at every turn. This visit was for a personal nature, and i have stayed at the Clearwater previously, which is why I chose to stay again.

We liked everything about Ft McMurray.
We liked everything about Ft McMurray. We were there for ball games and the ball diamond we were at were excellent.
It is located in a very nice area of Ft McMurray.
We toured the Oilsands Discovery Centre. We could have stayed much longer than we did. We were between ball games so we only had 2 hours. It is a very interesting and informative centre.
The restaurants we ate at were great, no complaints at all.
We ate and had drinks at The Den, a bar attached to our hotel. It was excellent. The staff, food, drinks & service were the best!
This hotel is convenient for us to stay in Ft. McMurray as it is a short distance to our son's home. We like the price for the room and, though it is an older property, it is very well maintained. We like the continental breakfast which is included and the coffee is quite good. We have stayed here at various times through the year and have always felt it was good value for the price charged.
For a 40 year old building The group that owns it now have done a sufficient job keeping this hotel relevant . Having the Keg restaurant directly accessible fromthe lobby is a key factor in my stay here. The bathrooms could definitely use an upgrade . The rooms are comfortable otherwise.
All in all I was satisfied with my stay here.. the staff were friendly and helpful as well !!
The staff member that checked me in and out was was amazing. I accidentally messed up the bookings and she made the extra effort to help sort out the situation with the third party bookers. I believe her name was mernie? She deserves recognition for the great job she is doing for the hotel.
My room wasnt too bad. My co-worker had a horrible experience. She had to change rooms 4 times because of safety and cleanliness. Ive never experienced anything so ridiculous. it made for a horrible 2 days. i will not recommend this hotel ever!!
Why did the hotel collect two payments (the preauthorized payment including the final invoice amount). This hotel is shady when it comes to payments. This is a scam. All pre-payments (incidents/hold fees) should be pending not a DIRECT PAYMENT!
The room was very clean the staff were very friendly and polite the parking was underground so the car was warm in the morning Thank you to the Merit hotel and staff for a pleasant stay
breakfast was excellent, good selection of food, real eggs not the fake scrambled eggs that are served at most hotels. service was very good all the staff were friendly.
Good hotel with spacy and comfortable rooms. The room was clean and equipped with all you need for a longer stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Great hotel. The room is more like an apartment. 2 separate bedrooms each with their own bathroom. Small kitchen and lounge area. Great value for money
