Convenient, comfortable, and very clean guest house in Rila, about 20-30 minutes down the mountain from the Rila monastery. The hostess was very kind and helpful, in spite of the lack of a common language. Breakfast and dinner were extra, but abundant and very reasonably priced. Cash only (euros or leva). The rooms (we had two) were spacious and extremely clean, and the heat worked well. No toiletries provided, but that’s not surprising at a guest house. There’s an outside area that looks like it would be very pleasant in warm weather. Overall a very good and extremely reasonably priced accomodation in Rila. (There’s a very pretty and sweet resident cat named Caesar as well :)

The restaurant features a traditional fireplace and stone walls, serves breakfast and a selection of Bulgarian specialties. The Centaur is set in a completely renovated 200-year-old house from the Bulgarian Renaissance period. The parking is free. Hotel Centaur is 1640 feet from the central bus station of the town of Rila. Hence there are direct links to the Rila Monastery (11 mi) and Blagoevgrad (12 miles).
