Tournai appeared to be quiet when we arrived but it really came to life in the evenings. We tried a couple of very good restaurants, one of which we had booked in advance, but many others were fully booked; an indication that they were also good. Several splendid bars with, of course, excellent Belgian beers. We had lunch at some of the restaurants in the main square, again very good but beware of the portion sizes, my wife and I should have shared a meal.

Great little town.
Great little town. Nice square and loads of shops/cafes/bars. Also a lot of small specialised/artisan shops. Easy to navigate with tall landsmarks. Great river walkways.
It felt pretty safe to me.

Lovely town centre.
Lovely town centre. I arrived by train and it was an easy walk to the centre of town and then around the town centre to all the attractions. I stayed only overnight but in two days saw a lot of the historic centre of town, cathedral and churches, bridge and the textile museum. Could have stayed another day. Perfect place for a stopover.

All the attractions mentioned in Lonely Planet for Tournai were good and well worth visiting especially the cathedral and the Grand Place, just a stroll from the appartement. Most surprising though was the tapestry museum TAMAT which exceeded our expectations. A pity the belfry was closed for renovation.

Very interesting historical town with lots to see.
Very interesting historical town with lots to see. Good variety of shops. Museums and art gallery. Compact enough to walk everywhere. Train station with regular frequent services to all parts of Belgium and beyond. The only problems were that most of the Cathedral is closed for major renovations for the foreseeable future.Similarly the main square in front of the railway station including all the car parking is closed for refurbishment. Be careful where you park. I got a ticket one day because I misread the restrictions.

A hidden Belgian gem, however, a place very often omitted by tourists, alas. And it is a really interesting, historical site, with a magnificent cathedral, bell-tower, cosy streets and squares, several interesting museums (the Folklore Museum is simply amazing) and full of restaurants and bars. Come on the second Sunday of September - it is a day of a religious procession and many other celebrations in the city.
Information was provided by text on how to access the keys. In French and in English! So, all very clear and easy instructions to follow.
Kitchen was well equipped and stocked with basic commodities: coffee filters, coffee, tea, butter, jams, milk sugar, … but also, pepper, salt, oil, vinegar.
Regular check-ins to see if there was something we needed.
Central location in Tournai, nothing in the city is far away.
Very welcoming atmosphere. Nordine is amazing and was extremely welcoming and went above and beyond. The facilities are there to house 2 couples in separate rooms. The beds are superbly comfy which is a great thing. Location is good close yo both Paris and Rest of Belgium and Netherlands. Would work great as a hub for exploring west Europe by car which is what we used it for. Would recommend very much
The Proprieteress is very friendly and helpful and went to great lengths to order us a pizza when we arrived. The rooms are fine and the facility is nice and just at the edge of the urbanised area. Tournai is a very old city and we stayed only one night but recommend two nights in order to visit the many interesting musea. The optional breakfast is good and if you order an omlet it's outstanding.
Lovely hotel, staff couldn't have been friendlier and it was a lovely spacious room, very comfortable and great location for the centre of this lovely overlooked town. The only issue with noise was because there were roadworks going on directly outside my room, which wasn't ideal but not the fault of the hotel. I would definitely stay here again.
Very friendly and helpful owner and staff, great location just minutes walk from the centre of town, good breakfast. The rooms are themed, along musical/cultural/artistic lines. We stayed in "Van Gogh" (twice actually) and its well done. On the Belgium/France border with that mix of culture, and spitting distance from the Calais terminals.
Hotel is in dreadful condition, run down & dirty. It has a good location but be aware that there is a biker bar literally in front of hotel blasting heavy metal music half the night. Lady at front desk very helpful but there is only so much she could do. Broken shower, no WiFi in room, filthy rug, jammed smoke detector.
There are numerous things i can say about this property but the highlights are , place is very clean, it is in the middle of the centre you can walk to about anything and it is quiet enough to offer tranquility, it apartments are equipped with everything you would need, kitchen stuff, bathroom supplies, linens.. Etc
Room was perfect, welcome snack was an excellent and copious greek mezze, water and white wine complementary in the refrigerator, breakfast served in the room was excellent with a lot of choices including baked eggs. Staff is super friendly and wants to make your stay perfect. walking distance from the centre.
The apartment is very spacious and is close to lots of nice things in central Tournai (the train station, river, shops, restaurants, etc.). I especially loved the breakfast, it is a great idea! The hosts give you a few coupons to pick up fresh pastries at a nearby bakery (around 1 minute away).
The hotel was cozy and had a nice ambiance… there was lots of movement to make you feel at home, but then the rooms are quite private and separated. I really appreciated the open coffee/tea and water fountain. It was a small touch that should be everywhere! Also nice location and nice staff.
Quiet location a few minutes walk to bakery and the city centre. Beautiful and spacious apartment. Great showers. Views of river and cathedral. Enormous garage. A useful location as a basis for day trips to Lille, Roubaix and Ghent as well as wandering around Tournai.
Beautiful boutique hotel, great design and decor. Nothing too much trouble, arrived very late, but given some drinks and snacks in room on arrival. Excellent breakfast also served in our room. Really lovely place we will stay again.
Nice appartement, we liked the way it was decorated, the style and the fournitures they used. There are some free parking spots not far and from there you can reach the centre within minutes. The host was helpful.
The hotel staff are wonderfully helpful, and the hotel is very near the cathedral and the museums. The hotel was able to accommodate our dietary restrictions, and the breakfast was much better than expected.
I liked the bike storage, it provided some extra safety for our bicycles. The breakfast was okay, not bad. Also the location of the hotel was good, it was easy to walk to the city centre.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was basic, but had all we needed: a bed and a clean bathroom. Paid parking right in front of the hotel on the square.
Fantastic location and lovely apartment with all the essentials. Tournai is such a beautiful city, if you are staying there, I'd highly recommend this apartment.
