Bruges is a picture perfect medieval city that will charm you with its distinctive, century-old houses, plentiful canals and city walls. The famous 13th-century Belfry offers the opportunity to watch the cobbled market place, the Grote Markt, below while 47 bells call out to the city every 15-minutes. While you’re in the Grote Markt you can take a ride in one of the horse-drawn carriages around the city.

A beautiful place. We were blessed with good weather.
A beautiful place. We were blessed with good weather.
If you like beer and chocolate then this is heaven.
There are a lot of good eating places though you might pay a bit over the odds if you eat in the main square. Have a wander round for some very good restaurants a little further out of the centre.
We walked everywhere but there are horse-pulled carriages and canal tours.

Bruges is a picturesque, small city and I can strongly recommend a visit, especially during low-season. There were already in March A LOT of tourists, so one can wonder if the experience would have been the same during peak-season.
The city offers a multitude of restaurants, not only around every corner, but also many hidden gems in alleys.

Bruges is an historic city and walking is the easiest way of getting around. The old town is bounded by the canal and ring road, so it's difficult to get completely lost. A short boat trip will give you a potted history and list of places to go, if you didn't come prepared with that already.
Brugge is famous for beer, mussels, frites, waffles and chocolate, so sustenance is taken care of, at the expense of any diet you might be on! There are plenty of places to eat, breweries and brewing musea, a lace-making museum with demonstrations, and other historia.
All in all, it's very easy to fill three relaxed days with things to do, regardless of the weather.

I went to experience the Christmas markets, I was little disappointed but did have high expectations!! First time visitor, lots of stalls weren't open and I guess I was looking for local products eg jams etc woodwork linen etc and not just alcohol and food stalls
I will sum Bruges up in 1 word amazing, loved lots especially De Markt, Gezellekwartier, Bakkersei, Sint-Salvatorskathedraal, Chocolate museum, Groenerei, Provence court, and cobbled streets.
I like to walk, so for me was great to navigate and all the best places are easy to visit on foot - best experience ever chocolate mile according to me :) Oh all that chocolate and tasted amazing yum
Restaurants - food was amazing, can't fault it, when I visit a country I only eat local foods and the food was fab, especially the fish options -mussels, sea bass to die for yum yum. But when looking to eat in a few restaurants I struggled several times when I was asked to sit at the bar when there were plenty of empty tables, so I just left shame, guess that happens alot as a sole traveler, I hadn't experienced this before!!
If I was to go back to Bruges I'd never change what I did but I would definitely check out the restaurants before travel just to get better exposure to amazing cuisine and I'd look at day trips e.g Flanders trip etc

Amazing town.
Amazing town. Get the museum pass, allows you to freely go in and out of most attractions. Rent a bike and ride to the windmills outside of the main town. Find the little cafe/restaurant that is near the windmills and enjoy a great pilsner.

Absolutely fabulous!
Absolutely fabulous! I was only there for 2 whole days, arrived latish Friday afternoon. You could stroll around town for hours on end and never get bored. I would recommend the Guru Walk tours - run by locals with incredible knowledge, pay what you think is fair to the guide. It helps get a feel for the town layout whilst being very informative. There are so many museums and buildings of interest to see, I could fit them all in, so will definitely go back. There are restaurants everywhere, of course, and cafes and chip vans, for smaller budgets and of course chocolate and beer shops. I went a week before Christmas, the town was stunning, with markets everywhere BUT busier than Oxford Street sale week! If you hate crowds, maybe visit another time. Just a couple of photos to wet your appetite :)
Location is perfect , room spacious, clean with closets, drawers, bathtub, walk-in shower, tissues, shampoo, lotion, conditioner, minibar, coffee machine and coffee refill, safe, desk…internet quality and speed excellent. Hotel architecture fabulous inside out, private, in the center of Bruges, has an underground parking, staff lovely, breakfast rich…and the price is cheap. I have to cite the details above as other hotels don’t provide them and they price the double. We had an exquisite stay!
The rooms were decorated impeccably and the hotel bar had a great selection of drinks with a gorgeous Art Deco sitting room.
The staff were friendly and attentive. They provided some great advice on how to get the most from our time in Bruges.
The location of the hotel is superb. Right next everything in the city centre while being just enough off of the main roads that it provides a tranquil space to pause before heading back out.
The elegant Christmas decorations were the icing on top.
The hotel was a real gem. The rooms were absolutely spotless with a high end finish. The restaurant and bar area was lovely for evening dinner and then relaxing on the terrace.
Oh, the breakfast was also amazing with a wonderful selection of foods to start your day.
All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. They had cycles for hire at very reasonable rates. Also it's only about 30 mins walk into Brugge itself.
It's definitely worth a visit.
It's 4/5 stars from ourselves 😎👍
Thw hotel was in a great location, easy walking distance to the main shopping street and thoroughfare in Bruges. The hotel is clean and has seen some recent maintenance. Our room was well appointed, beds were comfortable, and there were plenty of outlets. The workout facilities are quite good compared to other similarly priced hotels.
Our checkin person was quite friendly, spoke English quite well (not that uncommon in Belgium), and gave us excellent directions to several key spots.
Our stay at B&B Barabas was by itself one of the highlight of our trip. The owner, Bert, ensures you have the absolute best stay possible. The breakfast is truly amazing. The location is extremely close to the Grote Market, which is the tourist center of the city. There is public parking near by, and all of the tourist sites are a short walk away. Barabas B&B is the best place to stay when in Bruges. I will not stay anywhere else. Highly recommend.
A great place where to sleep!
We stayed one night in the room and we had a great time.
Johannes, the owner, is very kind and available. He gave us many information and tips to enjoy Bruges the best.
The room is clean and simple, it has everything you need to spend a comfortable night/s.
The position is perfect, just 5 minutes walk from the city centre.
I felt very safe and I totally recommend it!
Perfect location in the heart of Bruges.
The lovely receptionist recommended (and booked) a Flemish restaurant around the corner for us (Diligence) which turned out to be the best meal we’ve ever had in Belgium!
We enjoyed a drink at the hotel bar when returned from a post-dinner stroll around Bruges - pure bliss.
Our room was very clean and fresh feeling. We had a wonderful night’s sleep.
Excellent Location - Right in the middle of all the action. You will be spoilt with a choice of restaurants, coffee shops bars and brand shops nearby. The city centre and attractions are only a shout away. Superb Vibe in the location. If you plan it ahead one can best enjoy the farmers market in a square right in front of the hotel (I think it takes place on weekend)
10/10, 5 stars! What an incredible hotel. Mark was an incredible host, providing suggestions both for Bruges but also neighboring cities. The view from the upper floors was phenomenal, breakfast was beyond incredible. Location was about 10 min walk from the city center which made for a very quiet sleep but easily accessible to restaurants and sites.
This hotel has a very nice manger/owner. The location is perfect, walking distance to all the sights in Bruges. Great customer service and they will take care of any needs visitors may have. A very nice breakfast is also available. The hotel also has secure overnight bicycle storage, so its idea for touring cyclists. I would stay here again. 5 stars
Bruges is a fairly small city, but the hotel was located close to the center without being swept up in the annoying tourist areas. It was a quiet, peaceful area of town. The room was always clean and very well organized. The owners were always very nice, and had great suggestions about eating places.
Good location, 10/15 minute walk to the historic centre of Bruges.
Comfortable for a short stay, much more space than a hotel room.
Frederick the host was very welcoming and flexible about check in when our situation changed at the last minute.
The location on the canal of the room was extremely nice and enjoyable. The location of the hotel in the city was perfect. Pretty close to the center but just outside the crowd of tourists. The structure of the hotel was really nice and pretty
Stunning building right in the center of Bruges. Staff were excellent, absolutely loved the exterior and interior of this hotel. Excellent modern bathroom.
A welcome drink in the bar was a lovely touch and the breakfast was outstanding.
It was clean and staff were very helpful. The hotel is very close to the train station which is good but also only a 15 minute walk from the historic centre of Bruges. Nice rooms, everything you need is provided and beds were comfy.
The hotel is absolutely stunning. Beautiful room, very comfortable and gorgeously decorated, delicious breakfast with plenty of options and located ideally at the very center of Bruges. Perfect, through and through.
