It is said that abundance in Mendoza was so great at the beginning of the 20th century, that the Wine Festival was celebrated pouring this elixir in the city’s fountains and street-side irrigation canals. Located at Mount Aconcagua’s footstep, the city is an oasis in the middle of the dry beauty of the central Argentinean Andes.
Originally inhabited by indigenous peoples, the colonial city was founded in 1561. The irrigation system created by the natives was further developed and became an icon of the city, currently watering near 100,000 trees. The design of the central district includes squares and avenues, and has some of the best luxury hotels in Mendoza.
It is surrounded by vineyards and cellars producing world-class wines. Don’t miss the renowned Malbec variety, and try some of the boutique hotels and rural ‘estancias’ in Mendoza’s wine areas.
Its historic relevance comes from the fact that Argentinean hero José de San Martín prepared here his pioneering crossing of the Andes in 1817, aimed to liberate Chile. This amazing trip with mules and on foot is repeated every year by a group of enthusiasts. The area is actually well-known for mountain sports like hiking, rafting, and skiing.

Mendoza is a great location for food & wine lovers.
Mendoza is a great location for food & wine lovers. Great vineyards are close by, as is the option to experience a ‘Gaucho’ horse ride & dinner up in the Andes. Lovely town centre with beautiful parks. Great place to visit!

Mendoza was a lovely city, with almost every street having big shade trees. It felt safe to walk around in, with lots of people out in the evening, and so many places to choose from to eat, often all in the same location on both sides of the street for several blocks, so all you have to do is pick one. There's a lot of variation in the quality of the places available to stay, so I would recommend one with a lot of good reviews. There are also a lot of good tours available, to vineyards, horseback riding, the Andes mountains, and more. We were excited to see wild guanacos (a type of llama) at a couple of places in the older, lower mountains!

There are only two cities in the world that I have liked visiting. One is Vienna Austria and the other is Mendoza. I had no idea that I would like the city as much as I did. Tree lined streets and very clean for the most part unlike other cities I have been to. The people were very nice. All the large cities in the USA are awful in this present day. Not Mendoza. I would go back just to spend more time there. You can have New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, etc. Mendoza is well worth a visit.

You need to go to 23 Rios Craft Beer, not just because they have the most awarded beer, but because they have a great atmosphere and is great to stop drinking wine for one day and replace it by beer. :)

Great if you like wine.
Great if you like wine. If you are not a wine lover, it can be a bit of a challenge to find varied things to do.
Easy to get around and explore the city. Once you leave Mendoza to the Uco Valley the distances between destinations and wineries become long.
Many restaurants are geared towards tourists and have exclusively tasting meus with prix fixed. This can be overwhelming and too rich for everyday dining.
My recent stay at this B&B in Mendoza was nothing short of excellent. The spacious and comfortable rooms provided a welcoming retreat, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The commitment to cleanliness was evident.
Superb location, allowing easy access to Mendoza's attractions. Whether exploring the city or venturing into the surrounding areas, the convenience of the B&B's location added immense value to my stay.
Top choice for travelers seeking comfort, cleanliness, and a prime location.
The thing that makes this place is definitely the host and the staff. Both Victoria and Sabestian were exceptional. We felt at home straight away and they gave us all the information needed to enjoy our stay in Mendoza, beyond this, the hotel is located in a great area and has a lot of charm to it. Its an old building with plenty of character. If ever back, would definitely visit. Oh and the two dogs and the cat, nearly snuck Luna into my suticase. Thanks guys.
The house is perfectly located near Aristides, the street where the main bars and restaurants are. It is also walking distance from General San Martin park, one of the most beautiful landmarks in Mendoza. The house was clean and access easy. It was very hot and the aircon in the living room made the difference… It would be nice if they had one in the bedroom as well. Regardless, it is a cozy, well supplied house in the heart of Mendoza.
This place literally made our stay in Argentina and made Mendoza the favourite part of our trip. Matias is a star, so friendly and cannot do enough for you. We accidentally left a wallet behind and he arranged for someone to bring it to Chile for us. The atmosphere is just so good, they had an asado with unlimited wine which was great too. The area outside is really cool and we were able to have our own BBQ too. Thank you soooo much.
It’s a super cute boutique hotel in the central part of Mendoza. It was a short walk to all the good restaurants, pubs/bars, Central Park, etc. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable.
Most importantly the staff and owners do absolutely everything in their power to help you sort out logistics, tours, things to do, etc. It was just an absolutely wonderful experience! We will stay again the next time we are in Mendoza!
Everything about our stay was fabulous. Our room, 15, overlooked the charming patio. Most importantly, the size of the hotel, small, allowed for an extraordinary level of hospitality. Great breakfast. Wonderful staff; outstanding location; quiet and safe neighborhood a block from the enormous Parque San Martin; dozens of food options nearby.
A nice place in a great location in Mendoza. the rooms are very nice and Neli is absolutely amazing! she treated us like family all of our stay. we’ve been all around Argentina and this is the best place we stayed at! and it is not costly at all, in fact it incredibly cheap and it’s a great value for your money. Thank you Neli!
The host, Orlando, was outstanding and very helpful, but the accommodations themselves were very basic. The beds weren’t made on our arrival and we had to make them ourselves. That being said, if you’re in Mendoza without a car, this is a fabulous location and Orlando was always available to us to help solve problems.
We adored our stay at La Magdalena! Although we couldn’t speak much Spanish, the staff were so friendly and we were able to get by even though communicating was difficult. The hotel is like a little oasis on the hot streets of Mendoza. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the Main Street of restaurants and bars.
Great location, right in the city center of Mendoza. Perfect to walk around and move in the city. Many places to eat close to the property. Juan the owner was more than a host, you'll have a friend in Mendoza. We really appreciated he waited for us in the apartment because our plane arrived at mid night.
I liked mendoza, its a nice place to live and visit. The apartment we stayed in was nice and confy with standard amenities. The place its kind of small for a for a family for more than 3. Dario was very attentive and helpful.
pool was nice, lady in charge was super nice. spoke good English. we used another property of hers as well in Mendoza, even newer and cleaner. nice place to have an asado and stage for Aconcagua.
Quiet, gated community in the middle of Vistalba, 1 of 4 wine growing areas around Mendoza. Beautiful much loved garden. Very welcoming hosts, Alfredo & Myriam.
