Jersey City - I would stay in Newport, Jersey City again.
Jersey City - I would stay in Newport, Jersey City again. I've stayed NYC but would only stay in Jersey City in the future. Jersey City is clean, modern and reflects the calmer side of life rather than getting caught up in the noise of NYC. Great transport links to NYC by PATH, ferry and bus.
The shopping mall had some great restaurants and eateries offering rustic bread sandwiches, salad bowls and ramen bowls.
There's an Indian grocery store on 10th Street offering THE VERY BEST Indian food I've ever tasted. It's a must do while you're in Newport.

We decided to stay in jersey city after a day in New York as it was very quick travel and got us closer to Liberty State Park for the next day. To find a hotel with free parking and access to our car was key. Not having to drag your suitcase down the streets from your payed parking spot was a nice luxury to have. Jersey city is only 6 miles from midtown Manhattan and 6 miles from Liberty state park. After the statue of liberty, Jersey city has a KPot which is a must try or go if you've been before! AYCE!!!!

If you want to visit Manhattan every day the PATH (basically a metro, going to Jersey) is the way to go if you will use public transport.
BUT! If you are a foreigner check first how the foreign credit/debit cards work (or better to say how they are not) with the ticket wending machines.... they are funny things and usually do not accept cash.

We actually visited NYC for most of our stay, but it was a nice convenient option to balance the cost of staying right in the city, and easy access into the city. The people in the area (beyond just the hotel staff) were nice, friendly, and helpful. Enjoyed the stay!

For me as a visitor from Europe Jersey City is the perfect place to stay when visiting NYC. On one hand you have this marvelous view of downtown Manhattan - on the other hand you have a lot of shopping options at the nearby mall within Jersey City. Taking a boat trip to Manhattan and back is wonderful. Jersey City is a lot less stressful than Manhattan as a place to stay overnight. I love it here.

It was a great cheaper alternative to staying in NYC.
It was a great cheaper alternative to staying in NYC. We were going to a concert at the Brooklyn Steel pier so with traffic it was about 40 minutes to get there on a Saturday night, but we hung out in Brooklyn for a while before the show. In the morning, we went to Liberty State Park and saw the Statue of Liberty and a 911 memorial (you can take the ferry from this park to the Statue of Liberty) The bathrooms at this park were very well kept and the whole park was big and beautiful. On the way back home we stopped at Wonder Bagels which was crowded but worth the wait. Lots of shops around and it looks like a lot is being done to enhance the area.
the location was great. close walk to either Newport or Exchange Pl PATH stations to travel to Manhattan. If you can spare the travel time to get across the Hudson, Jersey City is the way to go. Accomodation is much cheaper than Manhattan especially around xmas/new year, and much quieter. We liked that. Staff were friendly and very accomodating. A great little self serve "minimart" at the front desk. We could buy snacks and even laundry detergent. Having a free laundry facility was excellent.
Probably the best value for money you will find in the NY area.
The hotel is close to NY (path station 500m from the hotel). It takes 25 min to reach mid town (33rd street) for 2.90$ (watch out because path is not the same network as the other lines).
The hotel offers a free shuttle from and to Newark (will save you 200$).
The hotel has a laundry room, very practical cause you don't have to pack much.
And the staff (Viktoria, Aymann) is super nice and solution oriented.
This hotel is great! Public transportation to NYC and locally around Jersey City is literally right outside the front door. Our room was spacious but cozy and everything we needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible was provided. There’s nothing like having breakfast with the amazing view of the Manhattan skyline that the Terrace Restaurant offers. All in all, a great stay and great experience.
Very friendly staff, comfortable room, and location is in a good area. I have stayed here a few times before and always had a pleasant stay. Great value and it's close to NYC but there's also a lot of great things to do in Jersey City. I love the hotel staff and they are very welcoming and friendly. Will definitely stay here again.
Excellent location in NJ City. Close t oJournal Square station, from where can get PATH trains / bus to go to NY and all places. Also very near to India square, where many indian restaurants / indian things are available. Taco Bell, Subway, MacDonald close by. Hotel has free pick up / drop facility to New Ark airport almost every hour.
Very clean place, staff was great and ver professional. All needs/requests met. Would definitely stay here again without question. Local food recommendations from staff were also amazing. Hotel itself is a tad dated but that didn’t affect any part of our stay whatsoever.
The parking is atrocious but as always the hotel itself was super clean and the staff was very nice. We had an issue with Booking but the staff was super accommodating and fixed it as soon as they could. I wish the price wasn’t so crazy for one day but it’s luxury
excellent location next to subway station for easy access to Manhattan. jersey City a pleasant and peaceful area. all the benefits of New York with a little peace and quiet.
If you like a quieter area this hotel is great. It's only 15 minutes from Time Square with the PATH. Jersey City and Hoboken have a lot of good restaurants.
