The guides in Hegra are the best thing about the area.
The guides in Hegra are the best thing about the area. They are well informed and welcoming of visitors.
Al Ula overall was a disappointment this time. I had previously visited 10 years ago when there was basically nothing for tourists other than one hotel and Hegra. It’s nice to have more options now, but most of the places visited, dined with, or stayed in were charging very premium prices for average or less services. I definitely saw and experienced less of the actual place than when it was undeveloped, aside from what the Hegra guides showed. A big part of that is the barriers to doing just about anything there unless you reserve and pay up in advance. When locations are spaced apart and people run on vacation time, it’s annoying to have to fix reservations for everything. There are few walk up options, even in less crowded times. It seems a place for the less adventurous and more those who want to hang out inside a resort.
Hopefully places can find their way on service levels and become overall more competitive with the luxury desert experiences in the UAE or the more traditional leaning camps in Jordan. It’s a great area inhabited by really nice people. Those should be the faces visitors see.

We were unsure what to expect but AlUla has completely charmed us. The locals were incredibly kind and friendly and we always felt like we could approach anyone for a chat and a laugh. I was nervous about not wearing an abaya but was never made to feel bad. I would advise ladies to bring one along and just see how you feel about not wearing it. We loved the Hegra tour and the OlD Town was absolutely charming.

AlUla is fabulous - if you get a chance, you should definitely go. Transport is an issue - so a car or tour would be best, though I did it with taxis etc and it was fine, just requires a few logistics! A fabulous place to stay and amazing sights to see, with trendy and cool venues/restaurants - in addition to friendly people. It's sort of aimed at the luxury end - but I did more middling, and definitely possible!

The area is in a unique geographical and geological setting, surrounded by 500 million-year-old sandstones. These sandstones shed light on the unique palaeoenvironmental conditions that existed during the deglaciation of the Gondwanan supercontinent in the Ordovician and early Silurian periods. On top of that, there is the presence of the ancient Nabatean civilisation, which settled in this region in the late Bronze Age. Their relics speak of a thriving culture, making this place truly magical. As a result, taking a vacation in this region is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Al Ula provides spectacular scenery, archeological taste, amiable weather and a lot of tourism attractions. The city is is well organized, specially the old city area, which is worth visiting at night. Some of the attractions require special permits which is a hassle snd disappointment if you dont get them in advance. It is more costlier to shop, dine and move around in Al Ula than most of other cities in Saudi Arabia.

They are adding new hikes and activities all the time.
They are adding new hikes and activities all the time. Old Town has boomed in last couple of years. It can be expensive, but there are also lots of free things that pop up, like impromptu concerts and live music here and there. Worth driving out to Tayma and Khaybar, two heritage villages. All in all my favorite place to visit in all of Saudi Arabia.
My party came from the United States, and Monsur met with us to pick us up from the airport. Before our trip we talked via WhatsApp, and he was quick to respond to all our questions. He was friendly, hospitable, and took part of his evening to help us organize a tour for our stay in Al Ula. He gave us dates and a case of water, and took the time to check up on us throughout our trip. We enjoyed our stay, and his hospitableness definitely made our trip. We will definitely stay here when we visit Al Ula again!
Wonderful experience at Husaak Glamping. They very kindly allowed us to check in early after our flight. The tents are very spacious and the bed comfortable. Yes it gets cold at night but it was cosy in bed. Clean toilets and hot showers. Bring a warm jacket for outdoors in the evening. Breakfast was very nice, especially the curried halloumi. Most places to stay in Al Ula are 6 star and $$$$ so this is an excellent alternative. Easy 15 minute walk to Winter Park where the tour buses leave.
While staying at this property you get the experience the raw nature and beauty of Al Ula, enjoy the silence, the sky full of stars and of course picking and eating beautiful fruits. All the staff were very helpful. Also the owner Mr. Ahmed was particularly kind and made sure that as guests we feel comfortable.
The location itself is very good, but the only thing about this property is that you really do need to rent a car, as taxis, Uber and similar will hardly come to pick you up.
Keeping in mind that this is not a 5 star boutique hotel, there were many things i liked about this place:
1) Convenient in Al Ula for a very reasonable price
2) big house divided into multiple, separate units each with its own door (apartments)
3) very clean, very cozy, excellent for a small family or solo traveller
4) Has the big old AC units that makes a humming sound that puts you to sleep immediately.
The hotel is a gem. The rooms are ornate and decorative, the location is good with a market a few meters away and close by restaurants. Parking is available on the street and there is also an adjacent lot. The hotel owner provides all the information you need about accessing the local sites and will assist with access. Great hospitality and great service, Friday Suites is the place to stay when visiting Al-Ula
The host of this place is just incredible. I spent two days in Al Ula and managed to see all highlights, all thanks to the property owner. He took me to great lookouts, Jamal AlFil and Old Town, as well as arranged bus tours to Hegra and Dadan. We spent a lot of time eating and talking together. The easiest way to initiate contact with the owner is via WhatsApp.
location and the payment concerned man was really helpful and did not charged anything upon our arrival from a long drive and allowed us to pay the next day. The furnished room is connecting to the nearby sight seeing locations connecting to the main road like Elephant Rock, Maidaine Saleh, Al Ula Old Historic city with Appropriate parking.
it was clean and comfortable and spacious and well located in Al Ula town. It is an apartment so there are no staff but the owner who lives nearby is very helpful and ready to arrange a reliable car to go to Al Ula/Hegra site (Ubers are not always available). Even for one person it is excellent value by Al Ula standards.
The place itself is very nice, it gives you relaxing vibes, it's quiet, surrounded by nature, fruit trees, etc. and the owner Ahmed was super welcoming and helpful. It's relatively close to Al Ula old town and Winter Park (where some of excursions start)
very amazing resort in the desert of Al Ula. Comfortable tent inside the mountains. Appreciate the friendly staff under Mr Majed and especially a very nice employee named Ilkram an Ouzbek citizen who was very friendly and helpful during our stay there.
Amazing property. Beautifully situated. Very good service. Top quality tents. Absolutely recommendable. If you want to experience Al Ula stay at 26 North Glamping. I recommend trekking at sunrise to a nearby mountain with a view of the entire area.
Place is very clean and homey.
The host was hands-on with the our needs and went the extra mile to make our stay in Al Ula extraordinary and memorable. Will definitely stay there again next visit.
