There wasn't a single thing wrong. From the place, to the location, the host, avaliable conveniences while being isolated to relax.
The pool outside brings everything to an 11. Enjoying the warmth with the cold outside while gazing at the stars, just what the doctor ordered.

Bad experience with the Bakkaflöt Guesthouse.
Bad experience with the Bakkaflöt Guesthouse.
We updated our arrival time, but the hotel did not give a reply. During check in, we showed our reservation letter to a elder staff, but she said no:( and was not friendly. They did also not inform us gate will be closed and the room key can't open the gate!. Because of puncture, we came back to the hotel around 1 o'clock in the morning and the gate was closed. We have to call the staff. Fortunately, that elder staff came to open the gate, but she seemed unhappy and blamed us when we check out.

It’s perfect for a family trip around Iceland.
It’s perfect for a family trip around Iceland. We stay here for five nights. While we were here we rested from our trip around the South. After a resting day we visited the North attractions such as Dettiffos, Godaffos, Myvatn, Grettislaug, and we even managed to visit Grimsey.

Beautiful valley surrounded by mountains and very close to the sea. Rural setting with restaurants and groceries a short drive away. I must return for a longer visit someday. Do not miss Grettislaug, Glaumbaer and dinner at KK Restaurant in Saudárkrókur. Still much to explore.
Enough toilets & showers for the big guesthouse and you even have your own sink in your room - that makes the shared bathroom situation more relaxed :) one bigger and one small kitchen. However, you may have to wait before you can start cooking. Efficient & easy self check-in.
Note: The guesthouse is in the middle of nowhere. There is only a gas station a few km away wehere you can buy some basic food and a smaller caming side with a small restaurant (we did not try this out). Ideally come prepared and bring your own food! :)
The property sits on a hill and has great views. They operate a horse farm and we were able to see them. They left us a gift of a pair of horse shoes as a keepsake. It is outside of any cities and turned out to be a great place to watch the northern lights. They provide a small breakfast of yogurt, fruit and juice which was sufficient for some of us. There is a town about 15 minutes away that has a hotel restaurant and a gas station with a restaurant.
The stay at our hosts' house was wonderful, the best we had during our week-long trip around Iceland. Their house was large, clean, warm and perfectly decorated. There was a breathtaking view from the windows. We also had a hot tub to use, from which we admired the Northern Lights. The hosts made sure our stay was enjoyable 🤍 We are delighted and highly recommend staying at Freyja's and Palli's house.
The Guesthouse is located in the same place where you start the preparation for rafting. Rooms and shared bathrooms are very clean. The shared kitchen is in another building nearby, within the campground, and is well equipped. There are a couple of picnic tables available outside. The hot pools are ok (not natural, no views, but nicely warm). Very close to Fosslaug natural hot springs.
We had such a wonderful time at Solvanes Farmholidays and can’t rate this properly highly enough! Eydis and her family are amazing, generous and knowledgeable hosts who cooked us delicious breakfasts and dinners. We enjoyed meeting the animals in this lovely part of Iceland. The beds were comfy and kitchen well equipped.
Thank-you for a fantastic and authentic experience in Iceland!
Very comfortable, very clean and well-appointed rooms. There is a spacious and well-supplied kitchen for guests to use. Location is great for access to outdoor activities in this part of north Iceland, and the Glaumbaer homestead/museum is just a few hundred meters down the road. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Everything exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend.
It was self catering but we cooked a evening meal and then a cooked breakfast the next day. We lingered as long as we could - didnt want to leave. this is a property that deserves a 2 or 3 day stay to relax and go out hiking in the day time. We would go back again for longer if visiting iceland again.
The cottage was one of the cutest places we stayed in our whole trip in Iceland. Very comfortable, it had everything you need! The plus was the hot tub with thermal waters that we enjoyed in the evening and are for use 24h! Good communication with hosts and very helpful. Totally recommend it!
We had a twin room with a private bathroom. The room was clean and comfortable. The setting is rural - we selected this place because we wanted to visit the natural hot spring at Fossalaug which is quite close to the property and has no changing rooms etc. The breakfast was good.
Wow! This was by far my best stay in Iceland! The cottage was spotless, had a very well-stocked kitchen, and a beautiful sitting area to see the mountains while eating breakfast. It's on a beautiful farm with horses, sheep, ducks, and a very cute dog! This is a must stay!!!
The apartment is in an authentic horse farm.
The family running the farm are very nice and hospitable.
The apartment is very clean and spacious with a very well equipped kitchen.
Nearby waterfall and natural hot spring are hidden gems.
We loved how calm the place was.
A comfortable and unpretentious hotel with great views across Skagafjordur. A convenient stop on the Ring Road between Reykjavik and Akureyri, and a good base for touring this beautiful area in the summer months. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms and excellent breakfast.
We stayed here 1 night during the Iceland Ring Road trip. The host was very friendly, very quick to respond, and gave us ideas to do things around the property, and also showed us their horses, which was a wonderful experience.
Having the hot tub with the natural hot spring water was the seller. I loved soaking in at the end of the day. The fridge was well-stocked. The place was worth it.
