It is a beautiful quaint small town located on the northern coast of Iceland. There is also a river and multiple waterfalls and beautiful hills all around.
A wonderful place to watch the northern lights as well. We saw the Aurora for 2 consecutive nights in early October, 2022.

Hofsos was a nice little town, but by travelling further around the peninsula to Siglufjordur a much nicer town with more choices of restaurants and sights is available. We wish we had stayed there instead.

The emigration centre is worth a visit and because it sits in Port it’s a nice setting to walk around. There is a picnic table close by and right next-door a good restaurant with a patio . A must in the town is the swimming pool ( thermal bath/ infinity pool) which also has an amazing view from right in the pool. Rules for showering should be adhered to - naked (people WILL insist) because they use very little chlorine everyone needs to be clean before they go in the pool. Communal shower but women & men separate. Clean bathing suit.
There’s a good grocery store but note hours for a grocery stores in Iceland may be shorter than you are used to. Plan ahead
