The evening shikara ride was great for our group and was at the right price point - 2000 rupees for 2 hours for 2 families. The bird sanctuary was a big disappointment as there is not much to see and the facilities are also very poor - of the two bird watching towers one is damaged and other does not have a great view. Not many species of birds could be seen or heard, its more of a nature walk than a bird sanctuary.

As soon as we arrived it felt like Paradise.
As soon as we arrived it felt like Paradise. As the gates shut the noise and hustle bustle of an Indian town were left outside.
The beautiful old buildings in heritage style, lovely garden with trees and the only sound that of birdsong. It didn’t end there. All the staff from Vaisakh the Manager, Amal the Chef, the lady helping in the kitchen and the lady constantly sweeping the floors and working in the garden were helpful, courteous and always had a cheerful smile. The two men were happy to enter into conversations with us when they were not busy. They also responded immediately when asked for anything.
The food was delicious and well cooked but they found it amusing that we couldn’t handle the chillis in some of the dishes.
The pool was clean and cool and very welcoming in the heat.
We spent a very happy and relaxing week at Brookside Heritage Resort and it was the best place to start our Kerala adventure after a long and arduous journey from the UK. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We will definitely be back.

We stayed in a property that gave us half-board meals (dinner and breakfast) and had in-house activities such as a sunset boat cruise and an evening cultural show. All this reinforced the kerala theme and made for a wonderful experience.

The backwaters are unique with water lilies and a wide variety of birds that can be viewed in a Shikara at dawn. A houseboat to spend the day and enjoy local cuisine served using fresh fish caught and sold by fisherwomen on the banks is a fabulous experience.

Kumarakom is a lovely back water locality, away from the hustle bustle of the city. Its a relaxing environment where you can disconnect from the busy world outside and yet if you need to get back to it, it's just nearby.
Very good breakfast with lots of options (both European and Indian). Freshly cooked eggs to order. Beautiful setting, good facilities and a lovely pool all very well kept. Comfortable room and nice bathroom, with both aircon (essential) and a fan in the bedroon We also had a pretty balcony.
The restaurant offers a good selection of well cooked, tasty food - although it should be noted, that as in many places in Kerala, the hotel is dry The staff are all very smiley and welcoming.

Staff wore masks. COVID protocol was followed. Bathroom was fabulous with fancy fittings, shower area and with shower gel and shampoo and complementary toothbrushes and toothpastes. Room was clean. AC was good. Park was small yet beautiful. Hammocks and clock tower with stunning view of Vembanad lake. Restaurant was awesome and the complementary breakfast was the best I had in a long time.
Gigantic swimming pool was a hit with the kids and also great for swimming laps. The layout with bungalows facing the pool is very family friendly. Food was above average for the price point. Enjoyed the live music. Nice game room and badminton court. Accommodating staff. I have stayed at several other resorts in Kumarakom and this one is the best value and most kid-friendly.
The location of the homestay & friendliness of the host and the staff was so good and made our stay exceptional. Having breakfast on the balcony with the view of the canal or dinner with the best sunset view was a blast. We saw so many birds, we didn't need to go to the nearby bird sanctuary. Would definitely come back here.
Great place to stay at in Kumarakom. Staff are friendly and kind. Rooms were clean and well serviced. Breakfast was great and included freshly watermelon juice which was lovely. Very reasonable prices, and cleanliness better than some 5 star hotels we’ve stayed at! Highly recommend.
The property and staff was amazing. The location is right next to Lake and all the amenities were upto the mark. I went there for my anniversary and they even prepared a cake for me on their own. The staff is very courteous and helped us with all our queries.
We had a lovely time in Mango Kerala Homes! Everyone was so nice, smiling and caring! They helped us to book massage and to organise kayak trip. Breakfast was delicious! Location of the hotel couldn’t be better :) Thank you for everything :)
Amazing property - beautiful views, good and new rooms. We also took a 2-hour boat ride that we found was for a reasonable price, and the views along the backwater were stunning. Really peaceful sitting staring out along the backwaters.
First of all let me tell you this is one of the best places I have stayed in. Food is amazing, View is amazing, people who like to stay at a calm and quiet place where you can enjoy the nature this is the place to go.
We stayed in one of the two Presidential suites. We loved having our own private swimming pool. The hotel grounds are lovely. Breakfast was good as was dinner in the Seafood restaurant.
Clean room and amazing breakfast spread! Really good view of the Vembanad lake. The cottage bathroom had an open air shower which has good amount of privacy as well.
Lovely pool with views. Very quiet and relaxing by the pool in the day. Very helpful staff :) they also arrange a great boat trip which leaves from the hotel
