The Mystras Archeological Site is an extraordinary collection of Byzantine churches and ruins, built into and atop a steep mountain. Allow at least two hours and be prepared for lots of walking on slippery, uneven, steep surfaces. Worth it!
Tip: easy to park in Mystras main square, with multiple tavernas to choose from for lunch or dinner.

It's a small town or you can even call it a village.
It's a small town or you can even call it a village. Coffee drinks and food can be found in the center square of that village. Ideal location to visit the famous Castle city of Mystras and after that, regroup and continue your journey. If i may suggest, the route from there to Kalamata through Taygetos mountain (EO82) is amazing...

I am very sorry for the CONFUSION in my review particualrly of this place. UNFORTUNATELY we could only spend ONE night at this magical and extraordinary PYRGOS OF MYSTRA. It was one of the most memorable places I have stayed in. Our host MARIA excels in her efficiency and kindness. The whole place has an aura of serenity and peace. It is no doubt due to the staff but also the surroundings: a profusion of orange and lemon trees, paerfumed roses and a beautifully landscaped garden. The room is not only beautiful but extremely well equipped and it was the best shower during my trip to Greece! We really received the royal treatment and in the magnificent dining room we were served a most delicious breakfast. I was so very sorry to leave the place the next morning and I woud recommend, without any hesitation, this particular hotel and make sure that you can spend MORE than only one night there. Our fondest appreciation to Maria.

Lovely quaint village within walking distance of the ancient archaeological sites, which are stunning.
It’s all very hilly to take a taxi to the top gate of the site if you’re feeling lazy - then it’s just up to the castle and then it’s all downhill back through the site and down into town

An amazing ruined city - great for anyone interested in history. We started at the top, walking up to the fortress then down through the city . We did not move our car as some tourist books recommend. The restaurant is outside the site but tickets are valid all day so no problem returning to walk back up - recommend this as you see things from a different perspective going in the opposite direction. There are sufficient information boards. Be aware there is only one toilet on site. Good shoes are a must - these are ruins! Highly recommend.

it was an extraordinary experience to explore this truly wonderful site.
The views from the fort at the top, the frescoes and the churches and the general feeling of being a witness to an important part of Greek history.
Loved everything about this hotel. The grounds are breathtaking and the rooms are new, well-kept, and clean. Breakfast is two rooms filled with delicious Greek and continental hot/cold food, and a coffee bar. Superb staff, helpful, friendly, and go above and beyond for guests. There are two pools on the property with a full-service restaurant/ bar. The property has security on guard, felt very safe. Reception was available to call taxi's upon request.
I spent two nights, as I wanted a full day to explore Mystras. It takes about five or six hours to walk from town to the highest point, and then back down. Most other travelers seemed to be in and out in a day. The owner was very charming, and the rooms are nice. There's a good courtyard to relax in when you're not touring. There are plenty of good tavernas nearby.
Great and rejuvenating weekend at what we believe is the best SPA-Hotel in Greece.
Great location, just below a forest, good view, quiet, easy to reach from Athens, very professional and friendly staff. Great SPA facilities, professional treatments, comfortable rooms, very good beds, very good breakfast.
Very good idea to have mobile-free areas.
The apartment is on the quiet outskirts of the village. It has 2 terraces one with views of ancient Mystras and one overlooking the rural landscape. We really enjoyed eating the homegrown grapes provided by the owner in the company of the cats and kittens. Central village square with shops and restaurants is an easy stroll away
Cute rustic style room with modern amenities. The room had a view of Mystras Ancient Site and balcony. Staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed over Easter and they informed us where we could eat dinner in town. Hotel had a restaurant on site and a good breakfast. Had off street parking available
While it’s extremely old it does have a few things in its favor. A very old elevator and old pool. But those things are in scarcity in this area of Greece. Balcony was also good to relax and look at Mystras castle. Breakfast was pretty decent you could even squeeze your own fresh orange juice.
Lovely staff. We arrived late. They upgraded us and walked us to our room. The room was huge and very clean. They took COVID precautions very seriously, it felt very safe. Breakfast was wonderful. They gave us lots of coffee! The location was very close to Mystras. The views were awesome!
The flat is located within walking distance of restaurants and bars in the village of Mystras and has a fabulous view of Mystras from the terrace. Tacis and Eka are charming and very helpful. The flat is well equipped with everything you could need. I highly recommend it.
This hotel is situated 5mins drive from the main town of Sparta and is a quiet but beautiful hotel in a beautiful area. The staff are extremely friendly, and have a lot of local knowledge and advice. Great location to visit the castle and grounds around Mystras.
We absolutely loved every moment in this hotel. The hosts are great entertainers as well as cooks. Our stay here was the highlight of our vacation in Greece. This place is just amazing.
We will definitely go back. I highly recommend this place to everyone.
Beautiful room, well furnished with massive wood objects, small terrace with nice view to the Spartan landscape, great location next to the site of Mystras, and friendly staff to welcome us. We highly recommand this place !
Beautiful location and facilities, breakfast was very good ( although no buffet while other hotels returned to safe buffets now). Very convenient to get to Mystras site.
Welcome drink was a nice gesture!
Beautiful little spot in the mountains.
Amazing architecture, and the very large room was perfect.
Very close to the Mystras Castle which is an amazing site to visit.
Great and very well priced food.
Everything!
Patty and Maria are so nice and informative.
The hotel is kind of a well renovated manor.
Internal garden, lovely rooms, very clean and very high level.
