Will not stay at the Spa Hotel Casino.
Ate at the Muikkuterassi at the rooftop of Sokos hotel at the center market area . Also ate at Ravintola Majakka. Would recommend both places.
Nice walking town.

Savonlinna is so beautiful town.
Savonlinna is so beautiful town. Mainly the castle and the museum are both worth a visit, also a walk around the wooded islands and the town, during which it is worth a visit and refreshments at Cafe Saima, very delicious food.

Beautiful (and crowded) castle, possibilities of cruises on the lake and some nice restaurants. Great market in the mornings. A town for a couple of days, not more (unless you are here for the opera festival).

We had a incident there with poorly managed covid restrictions in upscale pizzeria in centrum. They didn't care social distancing and when we went to say about that, local covid denials launch yelling and swearing show. That ruined our evening and somebody might even say that its not worth to go back there. At least to that pizzeria that is.

Savonlinna pleasantly surprised me.
Savonlinna pleasantly surprised me. It felt like a bigger city and had a lot of good restaurants and shops. Olavinlinna Castle is a must see, and only a short walk from the shore (where you can park). Close by Olavinlinna, you can find shops and restaurants in abundance.
We stayed at Casino Spa and for once, there's an effective air conditioning available at a Finnish hotel. Finland as a whole still thinks our summers are not hot enough to warrant AC, but they're slowly but surely getting there.

Visit Olavinlinna is must.
Visit Olavinlinna is must. I recommend to go to Linnankatu-the old town. People are friendly. Town is very nice place surrounded by water. Also recommend hiking around Olavinlinna, it offer great view of the castle.
My visit was followed by rain, that was reason not to go and see seals!!!
It's not easy to find 4 bedrooms apt for the price, especially as clean, cozy, with all facilities etc.! Everything we needed was there and when not, we just asked and it was brought to us. Extra cleaning, change of sheets and towels was free, staff was really easy-going and friendly. Location is 15 mins from Savonlinna by car, so not too far; just keep it in mind when shopping food etc. Drinks and icecream can be bought at the spot. Free floaties at swimming place, table tennis, trampoline too.. sauna can only be rented separately.
Absolutely one of the best little places I've stayed anywhere! It's a cosy little place with only a couple of rooms which open up to a lawn with an amazing view of the castle and the lake. The owner was so welcoming and friendly. I enjoyed getting to chat with her after breakfast and learning more about the area. It was more akin to being a welcomed guest in someone's home rather than just a customer as a hotel. I would absolutely stay there again!
A very lovely flat in a great location. Easy access to the main points of interest (i.e town centre, train station, bus stations, nature, food stores). Pet-friendly (my dog got a special welcome). Warm flat, comfortable bed, kitchen has all amenities, blackout curtains in the bedroom, easy communication with the hosts. What else to wish for. Definitely a place we would come back to stay in if we go to Savonlinna again!
Very nice and comfortable farm stay in nice and green surroundings. Comfortable and clean rooms. Short way to the lake for swimming, rowing and sauna activities. Breakfast and dinner were very good, BBQ hut was a nice addition to prepare our own barbeque dinner. Hotel staff was very friendly and gave us good tips for activities around. Highly recommended.
The cottage is quite spacious for the family of 3-4. It is warm, well-equipped and situated in the beautiful place.
Savonlinna is about 15-20 min by car. The host Olga is very friendly, she immediately replied by the phone and was ready to help any moment.
Our stay was nice and we strongly recommend this place.
Cute b&b, which used to be an old train station. We had room 1, which was very large with A/C. Dog friendly place. Great breakfast
. We stayed here during the opera festival and their room rates were excellent compared to hotels. Took a bicycle taxi to the castle and it was about 10 minute ride away.
The staff were very kind and helpful, especially given the dire state of the hotel and the hard job they had to do. They did everything they could, I can only speak positively about these poor hard working people in the impossible situation of such a poorly maintained hotel.
It was the loveliest stay I've had in a long time. Johanna the manager did everything she could to make us feel welcome, the room and the hotel were classic and Victorian, and the whole essence was calming. The city itself is magnificent.
The strongest recommendation!
Excellent location near the castle and city center. Breakfast was quite nice and you can have it in the garden if the weather is nice. Beds are very comfortable. Internet connection works fine. The 1930-style building is well renovated.
Extremely clean, really quaint with lots of trees green pastures and lake nearby. Bnb also provided lots of entertainment including darts, a basketball court, volleyball court, sauna, boats and bikes.
Spacious, well equipped, really comfortable. Host is very responsive. This is a perfect apartment and a perfect location, especially if you are attending the Opera Festival.
Nice location, not far from the centre and Savonlinna if travelling by car. Host is very nice, the apartment is clean and comfortable. Very good value for money.
I liked the location of Wanham Aseman Majatalo. I appreciate the staff, particularly Ella-Maria's kindness. I enjoyed the whole beautiful area of Savonlinna.
Great apartment, fantastic sauna, great piece of land/garden nearby a lake and within 10 minute walk of the train station and the main center of the town.
